It comes with a letter from the grand son of the relic hunter that found it in 1959& from whom it was purchased. Antique Fairbanks Scale Crows Foot 3-Toe 6 Pound
Up for sale an antique Fairbanks balance scale. This is a 3 toed crows foot scale that comes with the brass tray pictured. The tray measures 21 3/4 inches long and 11 inches wide.6 inches deep. The base on the tray is 7 1/2 inches round, and both have patina from age. This is a 6 pound scale, and the scale itself measures 10 inches high(with a 9 1/2 inch round plate)and has a 9 inch long arm. the weight that hangs from the end(by the hook) is 7 inches long. The base is 14 inches long and 8 inches across. There are also 2 bell weights hanging from the bar. This is marked on the base and the arm Fairbanks, as pictured. All of the metal and the paint has wear from age, but it does weigh accurately. The Fairbanks Company has been in operation since the mid-1800's, unknown as to the specific age on this model. This auction is for 6 pounds(packaged as three- 2# bags) of cons from my high banker power sluice I use here in the AZ desert. I find a lot of flower gold. Fines, flakes and occassionally a nugget. I use a Keene sluice that is equipped with miners moss and carpet and does a great job of holding smaller pieces of gold as well as the larger pieces. I have no way of knowing how much gold is naturally in the paydirt. I will add some gold to each bag to ensure that there are no bags that go out empty. I can not guarantee the amount of gold recovered per bag because this depends on your panning experience level and the method you use to recover the gold. I recommend panning the material a few times to make sure you get all the gold. There is no guarantee there will be a nugget in the paydirt. If you are new to panning. It was found on the most northern wreck in Ferris Bay. now called Arnold's Bay) where Arnold burnt his ships to keep them from being captured by the British on October 12. 1776. They are all in very good condition with light pitting& a dark brown patina. The Congress was a galley that mounted two 18 pounder. Two 12 pounders, four 6 pounders& 6 to 8 swivel guns.

Colonial Era 6 Pound Solid Shot Cannonball- Dug Hanover County, Virginia
Dug in historic Hanover County. Virginia, this solid shot cannonball most likely dates to the Revolutionary War era. It measures three inches in diameter, weighs approximately six pounds, and has a distinctive mold seam as well as a flat, round sprue. It has been treated via reverse electrolysis, and is in very nice condition. It would make an excellent addition to any collection.
