Original Ottoman-Turkey-Turkish Medal for the War with Greece(Yunan Muharebesi Madalyasi) 1897 with original suspension/Silk ribbon and top bar. Circular silver medal. Pierced for suspension, the face with the tughra of Abdulhamid II encircled by a laurel wreath with a rose at the base; the reverse inscribed‘Greek War, Day- Sunday, 23rd of Zildake(11th month of the Hejira calendar) 1314’ 1897AD) on an old faded correct ribbon with silver bar. The War of 1897 between Greece and the Ottoman Empire lasted just 30 days. Initially, the cause was the landing of elements of the Greek army on Crete on 21 January 1897 in support of an uprising by the Greek population against Ottoman rule. The Great Powers intervened, making Crete an international protectorate. A Greek army under Prince Constantine then advanced into Ottoman Thessaly and Macedonia ... moreand another into Epirus. In the ensuing fighting the Greeks were outnumbered and forced to retreat. Again, the Great Powers intervened and the Sultan ordered a ceasefire on 20 May. A treaty was signed on 20 September under which Greece was obliged to pay compensation. The medal was awarded to Ottoman military who resisted the Greek incursions. The medal is now quite rare. An amazing early red and green honeybee applique quilt. A super large size in a lattice maze pattern. Notice the corner pieces. I love that little touch to the corners. The centers of the honeybee blocks have a neat turkey red print. It measures a generous 92 x 92 inches. Hand quilted 8 stitches per inch. The binding is hand sewn and batting is thin. Hand pieced. Some scattered age spotting and yellowing which is typical to see with these early quilts. Looks unused and possibly never washed. Circa 1850s Collected in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Antique vintage Gypsy Color Wheel Storyteller Sun Ray quilt Turkey Track Kings X
This is an amazing one of a kind quilt from Tennessee. A true work of art. 72" x 83" in size. Hand tied with different color threads. The front has big circles with strips in prints and solids with many colors radiating out from them. Turkey track stitching brings all the pieces together. The backside is a red. White, and blue print and folds over to the front to make the binding. There are 4 or 5 tiny tears that you won't see if you are not looking for them. The 5th picture shows 2 tiny places that might look like patches but they aren't. The lady that I got the quilt from told me that those are spots where selvedges were put together. I've never seen this technique done before. The front is a lot of different types of fabric. The back is cotton. Bright and colorful. Clean and in great vintage condition.

Hinge lidded it opens to reveal a wishbone, see photo) the breast of the bird decorated with a sprig of holly. It stands about 1" tall. In excellent condition, with no apparent losses.
