A rare and genuine. Ancient Near Eastern Terracotta jug, dating to the 1st millennium B.C. With rounded base and globular body with wide. Cylindrical neck. The piece decorated with added pellets of clay and with two lug handles positioned bilaterally. A beautifully shaped vessel. And fascinating display piece. Height: 5 1/4 inches. Condition: Very good. Small area of base reattached and associated infill. Age related encrustation. Provenance: Ex-Collection of Henk Huffener(1923– 2006) A respected artist, officially honoured hero of the Dutch resistance, and successful antiques dealer, with establishments in Surrey and Kensington, England. Huffener was born in Utrecht in 1923. One of nine children. He soon became known for his artistic talents, most notably for his still lifes, portraits, and abstractionist works. The 3 maps show: Palestine at the time of Jesus Christ- The route followed by the Hebrews- The Tribes of Israel Additionally there is a plan of Jerusalem It measures approx 76cm x 56cm excluding margins. Vertical centrefold as issued. Very attractive original hand colouring. Overall condition is very good. A sharp and clear impression. There is some light mottled brown spotting. And some light browning along the centrefold. Also some marks here and there. The edges are bumped in places, and there is a tear in the bottom margin that just reaches the printed border.
