Masked Greek Macedonian Spartan Phrygian helmet armor armour ancient Roman
Price reduced from $58 5 to $385. The ancient Greeks started weraring masked helmets long before the Romans did. This version shows a masked helmet more structurally stronger then the leather hinged verity. The mask is held in place by two pins on the inside. It can however be easily converted to the more common type by splitting the mask down the center. Trimming some sheet metal off and drilling and attaching leather hinges to botht the helmet and now the check guards. The face design can also be modified by me in both design work and final execution. I have also added in on the last two pictures, an even more different Greek cheek guard design. The last two pictures and their cheek guards do not come with the helmet but can be fabricated and added on if you would rather have those then the face mask. It is also possible to re-design the ... morehelmet to have more then the two looks. I can even add a horse hair crest etc. and feathered plumes. The helemt as priced comes only as it is pictured however. If you would like me to do additional work, there will be extra cost involved but it can be customized to your liking in several different ways. The Phrygian type helmet. Also known as the Thracian helmet, 1] was a type of helmet that originated in Classical Greece and was widely used[ 2] in Thrace. Dacia. Magna Graecia and the Hellenistic world until well into the Roman Empire. The names given to this type of helmet are derived from its shape. In particular the high and forward inclined apex, which resembles the caps(usually of leather) habitually worn by Phrygian and Thracian peoples. The Phrygian type helmet was worn by Macedonian cavalry in King Philip's day. The royal burial in the Vergina Tomb contained a helmet which was a variation on the Phrygian type. Exceptionally made of iron, this would support its use by cavalry. 4] The Phrygian type helmet was in prominent use at the end of the Classical Era and into the Hellenistic period. Replacing the earlier' Corinthian' type from the 5th century BC.

Pyrrhus, however, lost many men, several close associates, and all of his baggage. SC 2039 OBVERSE– Diademed head right REVERSE– Spiked Macedonian helmet adorned with wild goat horns Diodotus Tryphon was king of the Hellenistic Seleucid kingdom. As a general of the army. He promoted the claims of Antiochus VI Dionysus, the infant son of Alexander Balas, in Antioch after Alexander's death, but then in 142 deposed the child and himself seized power in Coele-Syria where Demetrius II Nicator was unpopular for his oppressive treatment of the Jews. The internal situation in the Seleucid domains was so convoluted. And Diodotus was so eager to gain allies, that in 143 BC Hasmonean rule was reinstated in Judea in exchange for aid. True ... moreto their word, several Jewish armies marched against Diodotus' rival Demetrius and opposing cities. However, the Jewish forces under the High Priest Jonathan behaved too boldly, leading to his capture and murder by ruse when Diodotus marched into Judea. Despite his preparations and intentions to cow the Jews, Diodotus was entirely unsuccessful, and left the region under the rule of Jonathan's brother Simon, with little gain beyond a minor tribute of 100 talents. Finally, in 138 Diodotus was attacked and defeated in Antioch by Antiochus VII of Side. Diodotus committed suicide after his defeat. In 138 BC. Diodotus claimed that his charge, the young Antiochus VI, had contracted an illness and required surgery, during which he died- presumably disguising his murder at his supposed benefactor's bequest. Alexander the Great Peter Connolly memorial helmet Macedonian Greek lion Persia
One of a kind silver plated bronze life size Alexander the Great lions head helmet with added gold highlights. This helmet design taken from the late Peter Connolly's concept painting of the ancient hero and Macedonian King during his conquest of Persia. The main influence for this helmet was from the famous sarcophagus of Alexander now located in the Istanbul Museum and carved from solid marble. This is the only life size 100% red bronze sheet metal helmet plated in silver with a custom made leather padded liner on the inside that will ever be made. The leather padding is all custom made for this one time only leather padded representation of the famous helmet. All other Alexander helmets designed from the movie and seen on the internet are made out of 1/4 inch thick resin. Only this one is 100% metal except for the feathered white plumes ... moreon either side of the black horse hair crest. The book that this painting came from was written and illustrated by Peter Connolly's and was called"Greece and Rome at War" I traveled with Peter Connolly throughout Western Europe over a decade ago going to and visiting ancient sites. I am seen in the photo on the left presenting him with a Roman standard that I made in a cafe under the streets of Paris France. For a historical reference. Greek Macedonian War Alexander Philip Hoplite 54mm model figure phrygian helmet
Greek or Macedonian War soldier of either Alexander the Great or Philip of Macedon Hoplite in 54mm model figure wearing a phrygian helmet with the long Macedonian spear called a sarissa with Medusa head shield to turn their enemies into stone(if they were superstitious) First time listing of these Greeks from my collection from my collection of five different Greek hoplite warriors all with black and white crested helmets painted during the height of the Russian master painter time period. Each of these pieces are are all one of a kind works. The great Russian painters are all gone now. When the Russians decided to by-pass American dealers. They also by passed a long standing quality assurance program as well. At first it benefited the Russian masters but when every Russian who could pick up a brush and paint jumped on the internet band wagon ... morethe lower quality artist undersold the masters. The writing was one the wall just like when the cheap and lower quality Indian made armor flooded American markets. The true master armorers from both Europe and America were hit hard as most American buyers just wanted what-ever was cheaper priced. Many of these armorers either went out of business to do other things or they tripled their prices to stay in business to those who had lost of extra cash. The highest quality Russian figures came from Alex Serga who is now a real estate broker in Russia. The vast majority of my figure collection was handpicked in person at figure shows of only the best of the best mostly in the North East and many were also custom ordered from base metal kits purchased here and then shipped off to Russia to be custom painted by one of the true Russian masters. The denarius weighed a little more than 4 grams, though its weight declined ... moreover time Designs and legends were controlled by a triumvirate of mint officers called“moneyers” The post of moneyer was a political appointment in Rome. Moneyers were permitted to use coin designs and inscriptions for self promotion. The typical Roman denarius will have the moneyer’s name. In 509-10 BC, Rome abolished her regal system and instituted a new political order, the Republic. The king was replaced by two consuls and a range of lesser magistrates, elected annually by the whole male citizen body. The consuls chose an advisory council, the Senate, at first ad hoc, later according to well-defined qualifications(of landed wealth, military and political service) The consuls led the army in times of war and had executive powers in most others matters. Army service was a duty of citizenship but it was also a privilege for which only the wealthier(who could supply their own equipment) were eligible. Soon a small group of aristocratic families. KASSANDER OF MACEDONIA AE17___Macedonian Shield & Helmet

Price 404 OBVERSE– Macedonian shield with thunderbolt on boss REVERSE– Macedonian helmet Kassander is first recorded as arriving at Alexander the Great’s court in Babylon in 323 BC. Where he had been sent by his father, Antipater, likely to the help uphold Antipater’s regency in Macedon, although a later contemporary suggestion hostile to the Antipatrids was that Kassander had journeyed to poison the King. Whatever the truth of this suggestion. Kassander certainly proved to be singularly noted amongst the diadochi in his hostility to Alexander‘s memory. Alexander IV, Roxana, and Alexander’s supposed illegitimate son Heracles would all be executed on his orders, and a guarantee to Olympias to spare her life was not ... morerespected. So too, Kassander would restore Thebes, which had been destroyed under Alexander. This gesture was perceived at the time to be a snub to the deceased King.It was even said that he could not pass a statue of Alexander without feeling faint. Kassander has been perceived to be ambitious and unscrupulous, and even members of his own family were estranged from him. He was taught by philosopher Aristotle at the Lyceum in Greece. As Antipater grew close to death in 319 BC. He transferred the regency of Macedon not to Kassander, but to Polyperchon, possibly so as not to alarm the other diadochi through an apparent move towards dynastic ambition, but perhaps also because of Kassander’s own ambitions. Kassander rejected his father’s decision, and immediately went to court Antigonus, Ptolemy and Lysimachus as allies. Waging war on Polyperchon, Kassander would destroy his fleet, put Athens under the control of Demetrius of Phaleron, and declare himself Regent in 317 BC. After Olympias’ successful move against Philip III later in the year, Kassander would besiege her in Pydna. When the city fell two years later, Olympias was killed, and Kassander would have Alexander IV and
