6th Century BC Corinthian Pottery Aryballos Umber Quatrefoil Motif of Lotus Buds
6th Century B.C. Corinthian Pottery Aryballos A Corinthian pottery aryballos decorated in umber and highlighted in brick red with a quatrefoil motif of lotus buds. Probably 6th Century B.C. Height is 2.5 inches It appears that there is a slightly indented band around the centre of the body and the paint is over the top of it. I wonder whether the vessel is ancient but the decoration has been a little enhanced with some more recent painted decoration. The design is a known type but the central panel is a little unusual as well. This is not my area of specialty. But i had the piece looked at and this is the information i gathered.
