POTTERY BLACK ELEPHANT BOOKENDS GREEN DRIP GLAZE BASES PALM TREES ART DECO
ELEPHANT BOOKENDS DRIP GLAZE PALM TREES After a lot of research I have decided these book ends are a mystery. The palm tress can be any maker. The elephants are in the shape of SylvaC but are the wrong size. The drip glaze is very similar to sevral Sydney potteries from the 50's like MCP and Mashman. Obviously there is no marks. The elephants are the very rare short trunk variety now extinct. Actually they have had their trunks broken off and glazed over. I can detect no difference in the glaze so I don't know when it was done. One elephant has a hairline on one leg. This can only just be felt and seen and this elephant seems to have been reglued to the base. The bases had a felt covering which I removed to look for marks. There is some felt left on the edges. Here is a cute little mid century planter in the shape of a bow tie. Shiny black glaze is trimmed in 22K gold. Planter sits on four little feet. The planter is in great condition. Except for some fading at one end. Initially I thought it was some sort of hard water residue, but as I washed it, it feels a little"drier" than the rest of the glaze. So I am going to say the glaze has worn off or faded at that one end. You can see it in the photo of the one end of the planter. OOH. And there is a bit of a chip on the one corner. Vintage Pottery Ewer Pitcher Black Onyx and Silver Drip Glaze Signed Inez 1960 Elegant 1960 vintage Ewer/ small pitcher! The bottom is signed by the artist Inez and date. 1960. The ewer measures approximately 6 3/4" in height to the top of the spout. The base is 2 1/8" in diameter. The body of the ewer is approximately 3 3/4" in width. The glaze is a high shine black onyx with a silver/gray drip. The Silver drip has a unique frosted look and appears to be somewhat metallic in makeup. Very nice application and color! The handle has a flower shape at the top where it is attached to the ewer and is elegantly curved and sculpted at the bottom. The ewer has two very shallow small glaze chips on the edge of the spout. Is black matte finish with a multi-colored glaze inside dish. stands roughly 4.5" high and is roughly 9.5" across at widest point. Octoagon shaped dish on pedestal. Very Good condition. ROOKWOOD POTTERY, BLACK EYED SUSANS, STANDARD GLAZE, ROPE HANDLES, STUNNING
For Auction is a lovely piece of pottery made by the Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati. Ohio. The piece is a rectangular shaped Vase perfect for displaying on a narrow shelf or mantle. The Vase measures 8" tall and is approximately 6" in diameter. It measures 5" deep and has an oval outside rim measurement of 4 1/4" by 3 3/8" The Vase is finished in the infamous Standard Glaze that was responsible for Rookwood's rapid rise to fame in the late 1800's. The Vase displays Daisies and Black Eyed Susans glazed in Fall colors of Yellow to Pumpkin Orange for the petals. The Flower Centers range from Mustard Yellow to a Deep Brown. They are painted on the upper portion of the vase set against a light moss green blending into a deep Green. Blue background.The bottom half of the vase has embossed vertical ribbing ... morewith the transition of the Pumpkin Orange to Deep Green. The Vase rests upon four squat feet to give some added height. There are two rope twisted handles that are applied at the shoulders and joined at the neck of the flared out rim. This is a beautiful piece of pottery that would look lovely with a bouquet of fall flowers such as mums for a holiday centerpiece or focal point. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no nicks. Chips, cracks or dings. There is some light crazing to the Vase but it is difficult to see unless under a bright light and does not detract from the value. The piece is signed with a reverse RP logo and seven flames above the RP which represent the year of manufacture which was 1893. There is also an impressed 195 which is an early shape number and the letter W which stood for the use of White clay on this particular piece. This is a very early piece of Rookwood Pottery and it is amazing to still be in such great shape for being almost 120 years old. This listing is for a compote made by Weller pottery. I believe this is the Noval line. It most closely matches a shape shown on page 192 in the Collectors encyclopedia of Weller Pottery but the rose decoration is also very similar to the Zona line. It is marked with the impressed WELLER mark. It has some chips along the bottom(photo 4) and some discoloration that looks like foxing to me(photos 3& 6) It does have the overall crazing usually seen with this pottery. Here is a very unusual antique North Carolina red clay handled pottery medicine jar covered in a glossy gunmetal black glaze. This small jar measures 6 1/4" tall x 6 1/4" wide with handles. It is wheel thrown with naively applied handles. It is in excellent. Original condition with a couple small glaze chips to on handle(see pictures) There is also some glaze crazing around the bottom edge of the jar. The piece is unsigned and likely dates to the latter half of the 19th century. There is even a finger print glaze miss near the top edge. A wonderful primitive jar. Pictures should tell the story. There is no damage. Restoration or crazing. The colours are bright and the gilding on the plate and the edge trim is all intact with no wear. The glaze to the black background is bright. Signature: There is a six character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue on the bottom. Age: 19th century Condition: There are no chips. Hairlines, or repairs. There is a drill hole in the bottom with two associated 1" hairlines. There are some light scratches on the side and foot ridge(see photos#15& 16. Decorated in black with a crab and Chinese characters on the interior. And more Chinese characters on the exterior. Made in the Tang Dynasty. Rare Haeger Black Drip Over Glaze Vase by artist Sebastiano Maglio
Up for bid is a Haeger black drip over glaze vase signed by artist Sebastiano Maglio. Sebastiano Maglio was a master potter for the Haeger Pottery Co. during the last part of the 20th century. He is a 8th generation potter from Italy. Vase is covered in a dead. Flat black glaze with dark bronze drip over glaze. Probably dates around 1985. Sebastiano Maglio was an 8th generation potter working for Haeger Pottery from 1963-1995. All of his pieces were hand thrown and individually signed by hand. This particular piece is an excellent example of his work and intricate glaze work. It is 9“ in height. 6“ in width, 3” at the top and 3.5” at the base. Stunning piece of McCoy Pottery made in USA. It is the size of a cereal bowl. 5 1/2" across. It is unique in that it is a black/grayish pottery base with a pink glazing drip technique. I have always thought it was unique and beautiful. We found it in my Mother-in-law's things and I have had for many years. But now I have come to the point of having to downsizing my stuff. There aren't any usage marks in the bowl. There are 3 tiny manufacturing imperfections of glaze. I believe this is typical of American Pottery. I have pictured the exact bowl you will be receiving. Description Thank you for viewing my eBay store. The Cali Shop! Up for sale is a hand made Easter Island Moai by. Me, Michael Shigeru Sbicca. This is a piece I sculpted in December 2012. But just got around to glazing. It's high fired at cone 10 to make for a very durable ware. The glaze is a crazy gloss black with hints of dark blue and white powder. It has this invisible look. So I just called it kevlar black. The inside is a creamy dark blue with super clear finish. Not microwave safe. All glazes are lead-free and food safe. I would suggest hand washing. Jute yarn chin isn't glued. So it can be removed for washing the mug.
