And the base is 6 inches wide at the bottom and 3 inches tall. Painted white. It is very heavy. About 10 lbs. with out the packing and boxes. I have always loved garden statues. Beautiful old Original Vintage Eclipse Fire Hydrant. Great Sculpture for yard. Garden, indoor home, business, or apartment display or odd art. It is original with as-found paint and is somewhat dirty. With some washing. It will look even better. Marked in the casting with" No. 3" ECLIPSE" Pat. and" St. Louis" No breaks or cracks. Approximately 26-1/2" tall. All original with 2 plugs complete with the dangling chains. This was originally much longer(several more feet longer) but the casting was broken off. So I cut the casting off at the ground level in the machine shop(to give it a widest base as possible) and ground ... morethe bottom very flat. It sits flat and very straight. Excellant size for display. Last photos shows underside where it has been ground flat. Still has the valve pipe stub within. That also has been cut off just above the base level. Old Vintage International Harvester Corn Planter Check Row Wire Stake Yard Art Who-hoo- went to my first auction of the summer- it was a farm estate auction literally right down the street from me. The former owners had lived there since he had gotten out of the military after enlisting during WWII. And her family had been on the property for generations before that. It’s all farm stuff- household, barn, outbuildings, property- many items from the 1800s and up. Lot of old iron, barn digs, primitives and pretties- I’m so excited to show them to you! Enjoy! You may be a farm item collector. But I see all of these old barn pieces in a different light- from funcky iron art yard art, so industrial wall art- whatever way you go- it's a piece of Americana history! What I have is an old cast iron check row wire stake- used in check row planting ... moreof corn. Check row planting was a method of planting where each hill of 2, 3 or 4 seeds was exactly the same distance from the adjoining hills. At the end of the day, a planted field had the appearance of a checkerboard, with a hill of cornstalks at the exact intersection of each line. It helped make it much easier to keep the fields clear of weeds, but with the onset of chemical weed products, this type of planting fell along the wayside. The check wire that this stake used to hold would have buttons on it that were placed for the desired row spacing. Now, I don't know exactly how this stake worked to hold the wire, but the construction seems pretty simple and pretty self explanatory to me. Measuring 39 1/2" tall, it is 6 1/4" widest and weighs 2 3/4 lbs. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition- I noticed that the center pole bends slightly off straight at one spot toward the bototm- it's minor. I'm showing in photo 12 that it has an International Harvester mark in the center- it is also painted barn red, and doesn't appear to have ever been any other color. A very nice old angel/cherub urn. It has 3 angels around the sides. And a garland of leaves around the bottom. It is in natural grey, never painted. I was told that long ago people used urns such as this to mark the graves of children. Flowers were placed in the urn and it is so heavy that it could not blow away. I think it would also make an unusual holder for a gazing ball. I will never be famous for my pictures. The dark spot on some of the pictures are where I washed the urn and a spot was not dry. I did not notice it when I took the pictures. The pictures outside were made later when it had dried. I have always loved garden statues. They add so much personality to the garden. I have always loved concrete statues. And was fortunate to grow up in a family that made them. They add so much personality to the garden. Vintage Brass Ring Round Working Garden Sprinkler plus Hose Connector Yard Art
This is a vintage copper lawn and garden sprinkler that I added an old rusty hose coupler/sprinkler to. The ring or round sprinkler(not marked The Ring) works great with a nice fine spray. I did not check out the hose coupler/sprinkler so I will just say that it does not work. With the two pieces connected it is 10" x 9 1/4" x 2 1/4"the ring alone is 8" x 2 1/4" If you need a sprinkler the hose coupler just takes a few turns and it is gone.hang it alone with something stuck thru the opening. If you are not in the market for a good working sprinkler hang the combo on the potting shed. Garden fence or porch for some instant yard art decor. You can add a bit of faux ivy or such but just as neat without it. The copper ring has a dent that is about 1 1/2" x 3/8" and a smaller one right next to it.there are three ... moreor four other small dings. Sometimes tarnished brass looks like copper(at least to my eyes) but I do think this is copper. I guess I should shine a small area on the back and make sure(just now thought of it)so I will and I will let you know if it is actually brass. The hose coupler is rusted metal with some green paint remaining and has a brass connection. There is not a rubber washer in the ring but I will include one just in case your yard needs watering. Added note:7/11 I just remembered to check-this ring is brass under all that patina. This listing is for the ring-around sprinkler and hose connector only-the vinca is quite wilted by now. Lovely folk artsy antique gray goose. Hand made of galvanized tin/metal. Stands about 21" tall. Has a lovely patina. Some rust on underside as shown in the pics. Hollow interior. I like how they made her webbed feet. Very cute. She stands nice. Former owners said her name is Martha, and they had her since the early 80's when they got her at an antique shop in Saugerties, upstate NY. They are moving away and wanted her to have a good home. She has spent some time outside in the elements, but she is in pretty nice condition. I purchased Martha the Gray Goose at a local estate sale. Exact age/maker unknown. She is so cute. For auction is a great vintage/ antique metal garden hand rake. It is used and weathered. The head of rake is metal and handle is wooden although it is almost entirely wrapped with what appears to be electrical tape. Looks like it has been that way forever, meaning it actually blends in.
