RARE PAIR ANTIQUE OHIO SEWER TILE GARDEN LION STATUES UHRICHSVILLE ESTATE
I JUST GOT THIS GREAT PAIR OF ANTIQUE OHIO SEWER TILE GARDEN LIONS RIGHT OUT OF THE BARN IN AN OLD ESTATE. FAMILY MEMBERS SAID THESE WERE MADE BY THEIR GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF OHIO THAT LIVED IN THE UHRICHSVILLE AREA. THESE WERE MADE IN THE MID TO LATE 1800'S. THEY WERE PAINTED AND PUT OUTSIDE FOR MANY DECADES BUT HAVE BEEN IN THE BARN SINCE THE MID 1960'S. ONLY TRACES OF THE ORIGINAL PAINT REMAINS. THESE WERE FIRED WITHOUT GLAZE AND THE DETAIL IS VERY SHARP. THOUGH THEY WERE PROBABLY MOLDED FORMS THE HAND ENCISED DETAILING IS VERY EVIDENT IN THEIR MANES FACES AND EYES. THE DETAIL IS GOOD AND SHARPER IN PERSON. NO CRACKS OR RESTORATION. THERE ARE ONLY A VERY VERY FEW MINOR CHIPS ALONG THE BASE EDGES WHICH I HAVE SHOWN ALL IN THE PHOTOS. THERE ARE NO CHIPS TO THE FIGURES. THEY ARE IN A RECUMBENT POSE WITH HEADS ... moreUP AND TAILS TUCKED NEAR FRONT OF BODIES WITH THAT BALL SHAPE FORM BEING THE FUFFY TIP OF THE TAIL. I WILL PUT A SMALL STICKER ABOVE IT SO YOU CAN SEE IT UPON ARRIVAL. EACH OF THESE FIGURES WEIGH 10 POUNDS. A GREAT SMALLER MEDIUM SIZE TOO SO THESE WILL GREATLY DISPLAY ON A MANTLE OR FIREPLACE BASE. NO ROTTING OR DETERIORATION AS THESE WERE FIRED TO BE TOUGH AS THE BRICKS THEY MADE AND THE PAINTED SURFACE REALLY ACTUALLY HELPED TO PRESERVE THAT DETAIL AND ALSO HAVING THEM STORED INSIDE FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS. ONE SITS JUST A HAIR HIGHER THAN THE OTHER. NICE WEAR UNDER BASE ON THE HIGHER SPOTS FROM BEING MOVED AROUND. This is a pair of ornate antique cast iron fence sections. They each have a piece missing from the bottom which you can see in the pictures. It is not a reproduction made to look old. WE ARE OFFERING Antique Pair of Tall Porcelain Hand Painted French Sevres/ Meissen Style Covered Urns For your consideration is this lovely Pair of Antique Porcelain Hand Painted French/ Sevres/Meissen Style Lidded Urns. The Urns each measure approximately 17 1/2" tall. Measuring to the top of the lid covers, not including the finial. They are Cream or Antique White in color. With the Urn on the Left(in pictures) being a bit yellower. They each feature a handpainted portrait center and are handpainted on both sides, see pictures) with surrounding accenting gold work. They also include gilded bronze or brass ornate mounts. Each Urn has been dusted and lightly cleaned-there appears to be a bit of tape residue on the back of the right Urn-so they may need some finer cleaning. The gold colored metal brass mounts. Handles and trim, show age ... morewear with some of the gold color missing in various areas. Some of the gold gilt flower decoration is gray colored-not sure if its suppose to look that way for variation or has lost gilt over the years due to aging. The Urns may need more tightened from the bottom, as they are somewhat loose, but they are completely intact. Two pair of antique grass clippers.
The first pair is very well used but still in good condition. The second pair have never been used and are in great to excellent condition. The blades are both the same length an sharp not bent at all. the only wear that is on the second pair is a little of the original red paint rubbed off either faded by time or just handling but definatly not from use.

Dating from about 1830. This antique English pair of exquisitely detailed watercolor on paper botanical studies- yew and thistle- is each identified in handwritten ink script: Taxus baccata. Common Yew. and"Carduus lanceolatus. Plume-Thistle. The thistle one is also inscribed"August 18th. On the back of the yew painting is a label of"THE WREN GALLERY LTD/ 8 ROYAL PARADE. SE 3" London, England] which identifies the artist as"Selina SHACKEL" the date, C. 1830" and the title, Common Yew. Under that is added"around Purley" which probably means Purley-on-Thames, Berkshire, England, although there also is a Purley suburb of London. The thistle painting does not have anything on its brown-paper backing except the pencilled, circled number 2000. Up for consideration is a fine pair of antique wrought iron stands in good distressed paint. The stands measure about 56 inches tall by 15 inches in width. They have a 2 or 3 layers of paint that has worn away exposing the original polychromatic color scheme underneath. The stand have a tripodal base with several floral rosettes and a large complicated iron flower in the center complete with anatomical flower with all it's parts. At the top is a large floral scalloped edged with more of the same wonderful robin eggs blue layered paint. One can easily see the how the paper currency shows clearly the scale of the piece. This is a beautiful matching pair of circa turn of the century French style carved limestone urns. They are in very good condition but one has a small chip on the inside rim and the other has a chip out of the foot on the side. They measure 13.5" tall. 9.25" in diameter and weigh 51.2 lbs each.
