Lovely Rustic Primitive Vintage Pottery Planter Bowl Iron Ring Handles Redware ?
Lovely Rustic Primitive Vintage Pottery Planter Bowl Iron Ring Handles Redware? Everything that I am listing this week is from the flea market. And from an auction that we went to. There’s lot sandlots of variety, and nifty stuff too- so I hope you enjoy! loveLoveLOVE this gorgeous rustic vintage piece. While it is clear that is was used as a planter in its past. It occured to me that it would be a fabulous bowl for you indoors too. It's got the BEST rustic primitive style- made from clay intentionally rustic, I do believe that it might be redware- look at the bottom and see what you think- I'm not sure because that's the only place that I am seeing the color of terra cotta- so I do believe so. It's a heavy piece, weighing just shy of 4 1/2 lbs- which is a lot as it is a small piece at 8" diameter across the top, 4 5/8" ... morediameter across the pedestal base and 5 5/8" tall. It has fabulous rustic rusty ring handles that look like they have been painted at one time too. See the cracks on the outside? They are from the making of this piece, not damage, as they are not on the inside at all. That being said, I want you to know that I did not fill this piece up with water as I did not want to mess with the patina, but that's a non-issue if it is to be used as a planter or bowl. There are no cracks structural issues though. There's lots of small chips all around- truly can't tell if that's from the making or later, but it all WORKS! I am showing you one indent/divot on the very top of the base where it meets the bowl in photo 15- it is an original indent in the clay from the making. So keep checking! Here is a wonderful vintage glass dome for your display or garden. It's hard to find nice small cloches like this. So I was thrilled to grab it for you. It is in excellent condition- I'm trying to show you the fabulous thick wavy-liny glass in my photos, I'm sorry if it's hard to see. I'm also showing you a rock from my rock garden AND the creapy bisque baby head in flower that I have in another listing, just for kicks- they are not included. Oh- I also have a tall plaster pedestal listed that I discovered this dome fits perfectly on top of- I didn't get a photo of that because I didn't discover it until here in my ... moreoffice. The dome measures 5 3/8" diameter at the base and closer to 5" diameter at the center of the body- the base is larger than the body for about 1" and then it graduates to the 5. It weighs 1 lb. There's clear cellophane tape on the top from a dealer tag- it will come off, and it is finger-printy dirty- that will clean off too- and it needs a good bath- I do not clean or mess with the as found patina in any way. Former owners said her name is Martha, and they had her since the early 80's when they got her at an antique shop in Saugerties, upstate NY. They are moving away and wanted her to have a good home.
