Up for auction is this very unique hand made antique garden urn with two cast iron horse heads. I believe this piece is one of a kind. It appears to have been constructed with extra available parts. The rivets are hand forged as well as the entire body of the piece. The feet are cast iron and may be from fencing material. The two cast iron horse heads are most likely from old tie posts. Our best guess is a boot/shoe scraper or a"log dog" tool for holding small logs in place, or for driving into a log to be used as a work support. You may know better than we do! It has an elongated"H" shape with two spike-like end pieces connected by a flat crossbar. The overall dimensions of this piece are about 6 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches tall. This piece was crudely hand-forged together and designed for utility, not perfection. It is definitely iron/ferrous, and does attract a magnet. An interesting old piece for display or creative use. z CONDITION: Very Good. This is a very old. Used, barn fresh” piece, left just the way ... morewe found it. Vintage Antique Hand Held Sickle (Sythe). 15" Wood Handle, 20" Blade Hand forged
This is a sickle or scythe as far as I can tell. The blade is on the outer edge though. And I honestly don't even know how to use it. This at one point belonged to my grandfather and my dad won't let me scrap it. I find modern cutting methods a bit more precise and powerful. But respect that there's a bit of old time charm to this thinge, it might make a nice wall mounted piece or something. I'm also selling some old pruning shears. I offer for sale a antique hand forged and riveted eye hoe head. It measures approximately 4 5/8" wide and 5" tall. The eye is riveted to the blade with iron rivets. Measures 14 1/4" long Four tine measuring 3" 3 1/4" wide& approx 3" long the two inside tine are straight the two end tine are slightly curved. Wood handle measures approx 5 3/4" long Condition is very good for the age. Wood handle has few stress cracks. One tiny gash near the butt of the handle. Very sturdy. This is 5 ½” long x 3 ½” wide and 1 ¾” depth at the widest point. Still has a good cutting edge. This has been lightly cleaned but has never been wire brushed. It is in very good to excellent shape. Wonderful hand forged and hammered iron shoe/ boot scraper. Great primitive folk art piece. Note the uneven way the ears scroll and how the feet are not exactly the same size. Notice also the detailed way the scraper blade is mortised through twice on each leg. Very secure. Solid, and weighty piece. With age appropriate slight pitting, rust, and patina.
