Width of cutter head 295. The handles are made from steel tube and fitted with rubber hand grips. The actuating arms and cutter bars are stamped from heavy gauge steel plate. The knives and branch lopper sections are hardened and tempered. Lightly cleaned and polished- in good used condition with much of the original red painted finish remaining. One of the last manually operated multiblade hedge cutters to come on the market before electrical devices were perfected and made safe to use. Drop forged from high carbon steel plate then hardened. Ground and tempered. The handles are turned from beech and fittedc with tapered steel ferrules. The handles are retained on the tangs by a hardened steel pin. Stripped. Cleaned and polished. There is evidence that this tool was originally chrome plated but this has all worn off with much use. Condition is extremely good. I'm afraid I cannot remember the name of this tool. We've had one or two over the years and these have all been stamped with makers name and product title- I presume this was one from early production. Under it reads JOHN GUY& CO LTD. SHEFFIELD. One blade is stamped- SOLID STEEL- there is also a faint mark on the other blade-Ltd. Oxford which was probably for the retailer. Length overall 980. Handles are 795 long. Cutting edge is 170 long Stamped and cold forged from mild steel- the cutting edges have been hardened. Ground and tempered. The lovely slender handles are turned from beech and have copper ferrules. Stripped. Cleaned and polished- in very nice carefully used condition- they cut well too. VINTAGE GARDEN SHEARS - TRUE TEMPER STAINLESS STEEL - 12.75" LONG
I have a set of vintage garden shears. They are made by True Temper and have stainless steel blades. They are made in the USA. They are 12.75" long. They are in good working condition There is some tarnish on the blades due to age that can be polished. There is some chipping in the enamel on the handles due to age. I have no idea how old they are. They have a unique locking mechanism whereby you turn the shears upside down. Close them and they lock closed. I am an interior designer and am selling many of my decorative items that were used to style homes for photo shoots. Many items are barely used and they are all in good(or very good) condition or they don't make it to eBay! All my items are 100% authentic and personally purchased by me.
