What a Pair! Today we have two very large vintage cast iron flower frogs. They both have their original green paint that is chippy. Weathered& worn to sheer perfection! One measures 4.50" across, the other measures 5.25" across. These are quite heavy, cast iron from the Dazey Mfg. Co. NY, as noted on the embossed mark on the underside of each frog. The flower holder stands 2 3/4" Has 6 holes, top and bottom, and is painted green in color. The base is heavy metal. There is some paint loss and a little rust, but it is in as if new condition as far as structurally. It is a little tacky on the bottom from florist clay. 2. One Antique crystal cut rose bowl with the original flower frog insert. Nicely appointed with engravings of swags and flower. No monograms. This is really a special and beautiful piece. Measures approximately 4" high. The cage is easily removed when it comes time to clean the cut crystal bowl. This beauty is in excellent previously owned condition without any chips or scratches except where it sits on ... morethe bottom. Just normal wear for a piece well enjoyed and with good reason. 3. These flower frogs are incredible in many ways. First way is condition they are in really grate shape considering they were invented to be holding flowers under water. The paint is in amazingly good shape. Onme measures 3" in diameter and the other. Although only 4" in diameter is much bigger, created to hold massive flowers like lilies or wild roses. They stand alond as sculpture and also would of course, do a charming job of holding flowers. I love this color green and if I could match it I'd paint every stick of furniture this color! It's really an Art Nouveau masterpiece of ultilitarian design. Based on the signature"Dazey Manufacuring Co" and the patent# I was able to find out that this was patented in 1915 by William Stuok on August the first, 1915. I love that he had a sense of humor and named it the"Dazey" ... moredaisy) flower holder so humble yet charming I bed"Dazey" was someone this inventor, 99 years ago, really loved. I hope that this set of frogs, the design, made him millions for they are really masterpieces of cast iron. There are 2 old glass Flower Frogs here. Both are in nice condition. The smaller, taller one is signed on the bottom in raised lettering, MADE IN ENGLAND PATENT 7850/1910 and is 2 1/8" across bottom, and 3" across at top, and sits about 2 1/4" high. It's really a cute one! The larger one is 4" across bottom(4 1/2" or so across top) and has a little bit of a tint to it at certain angles like it was in water heavy with iron maybe. It is aprox 2 and 1/4 inches high by aprox 10 inches in diameter. The saucer shaped one has no marks and is aprox 4 and 3/4 inches across by aprox 14 and 3/4 inches in diameter. I am pleased to offer this lot of vintage florist flower frogs; sure to interest a collector or gardener. It includes two metal cage frogs in the best green colors. A silver metal pin type frog with an aged patina, and a cobalt blue glazed ceramic pottery frog. You will receive the following… 1. Cobalt blue glaze over ceramic white pottery frog has 13 holes and measures approximately 4-1/4” in diameter by 1-1/2” high. Bottom is stamped“Made in Japan” This frog is in good condition with no repairs or cracks. There are several glaze skips. Typical of pottery from this time, and a tiny chip along bottom edge. 2. Green painted metal cage style flower holder measures 3-1/2” in diameter by 2-1/4” high. This frog has some wear and chipped paint with no rust. The maker’s mark on bottom reads“Beagle Mfg. Vogue 71 Pasadena CAL. 3. Silver metal pin ... moretype frog stands 1” high by 2-1/4” in diameter. It is in good condition with a slightly rusted and aged patina. Sharp pins, and no maker’s mark. 4. THE BROWN GLAZED POTTERY ONE IS 2 3/4" IN DIAMETER AND HAS 8 HOLES. THE LAST IS MADE OF METAL PAINTED A COPPER COLOR AND HAS METAL PRONGS TO HOLD THE FLOWERS. ALL ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
