The 12-year cycle repeats itself five times because each time the year of the given animal appears under the sign of another element: ... morewater, earth, wood, fire and metal. It is believed that the animal assigned by year and the element influence sociopolitical and economic events as well as character and skills of people born in the particular year. Originally part of a complete miniature children's dinner service. The measures a diminutive 4" in diameter. The center of the plate features a pair of bunny rabbits having a conversation. Perhaps negotiating over who is pay for dinner. The image is stenciled in bright yellow-orange with black detailing, and the rim of the plate is decorated with black sponged paint. The pattern name is"Rabbits and Carrots" de Lapins et de Carottes in French) The piece was made Montereau(formerly and subsequently Creil-Montereau) One of the faienceries in the France. This auction is for an OLD paper mache rabbit candy container. It stands aprox 11 ½" tall. Momma Rabbit is holding 2 baby bunnies. There are issues. One bunny’s ear is broken. Momma rabbit is missing one eye and one of her ears has a crack around almost all of the ear and down the back of the head. There are a couple of areas on the babies that have the brown fuzzy outer material chipped. It is dusty. I have taken a lot of pictures to show condition so judge condition for yourself. The sitting mother measures approximately 4-3/4 inches(12 cm) high and 3-3/4 inches(9.5 cm) deep. Her two babies are identical bunnies. All three rabbits have glued in glass eyes, so please be careful if around children. The mother still has the original purchase price stamped underneath, and to me, that places these in the 1960s, or earlier. In very good condition. With only minor wear to the flocking. Mild surface wear from being wrapped, stored and occasionally moved. Very clean. No chips or cracks. No odors. No smoking. This trio was purchased by a family member decades ago. Item Description You are viewing an ANTIQUE Japanese Houmongi. Houmongi are semi-formal kimono worn for visiting. They are characterised by their artfully arranged patterns which flow seamlessly across the garment's seams. This kimono likely originates in the Taisho Period(1912- 1926) This piece features an elegant pattern of folding fans decorated with florals. There is also a pattern of flowers. Bunnies(a rare motif! and swastikas woven into the silk. It is important to note that in Japanese culture, the swastika is not a negative symbol as it is in the west. The swastika was originally a Buddhist symbol which signifies drawing power from the four corners of the earth. So to the Japanese, it is a very positive symbol. This kimono also has a single crest of a pulownia blossom and vines in a circle. I have inspected this kimono in detail. ... moreAnd unfortunately there are a number of prominent discolourations on the exterior and interior. Some of these discolourations cannot be hidden when the kimono is worn, so this piece may be best suited to some sort of remake. Overall, I would rate this kimono in fair to average antique condition. There are no tears or seam separations. I have circled the damages in the photos above. I believe this garment is 100% silk. Measurements Length: 153cm Arm Span: 124cm Width Across Back: 58cm Total Width of Skirt: 128cm Sleeve Drop: 64cm Sizing If you are unsure of how to interpret the kimono's size it is important to know that the length(collar- hem) should be approximately 10cm longer to 10cm shorter than the wearer's overall height(longer is better) This is because the excess length will be folded up at the waist. Meanwhile. The skirt should wrap around the hips a full 1.5 times. The armspan should also reach wrist to wrist on the wearer. This is the original April page from a 1942 calendar advertising Morrell's Meats. The lithograph is from the Walt Disney short animated film. The Funny Little Bunnies. Under the picture. ... moreThere is a short explanation of the film and beneath that is the month's calendar with decorated important dates. You can see that the bunnies are all engaged in dying Easter eggs while the rabbit in front is trying to woo the attractive little girl bunny with a specially decorated egg. It is shrink wrapped on a piece of foam board for protection(can be removed to save on shipping- see note above) I believe these calendars were made in more than one size and this is the large 25" x 14" size. Obviously. This is an old, pre-owned piece but it appears to be in very good condition. There's probably a little paper yellowing and there is no advertising at the bottom- I have no idea whether it was made that way because the calendar was already so large or if a previous owner cut the very bottom off. PLEASE do examine the pictures carefully since they are an essential part of the listing- and I tried to take pics from all angles- but note that the bright white and/or yellow spots on pics are just glare/flash! Decorative Handmade Wooden Tray with Hand Painted Bunnies/Rabbit Hutch
This is a Hand Made Hand Painted wooden tray. It was made in the early 1980's. It is a solid piece of thin 1/8inch board hand painted with three sweet bunny rabbits. Two white and one black and white. There is chicken wire painted over the rabbits to give the illusion of them being in a rabbit hutch. The sides of the tray and handles are made of solid wood and are very secure and sturdy. The tray is stained a nice dark brown. This tray measures 14 inches x 9 1/4 inches x 2 1/4 inches tall. The tray is in very good shape but please note there is a small white paint mark on one of the sides(see photo)
