Penn Antique Restoration. 12" Antique"Yale" Solid Cast Brass Window Stay. Rare. Antique, casement window stay made by, Yale& Towne, of Stamford, CT sometime during the first half of the previous century. It is made entirely of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not plated steel. Originally, it was copper-plated, however, most of the plating wore off over the years and only traces of copper could be seen here and there. If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. Thank you for visiting one of my auctions. This auction features: 5 Vintage Window Casement Vintage Sash Stay Adjuster Operator Brass Finish. The rod is approx. 12" There is an extra one which I am including as well which does not have the circular knob or the rectangular part on the slider part. These are fairly heavy for their size and appear to be well made. A couple of the pivot points are a little sticky. They do have wear from age and use. I have not tried to clean them-they may brighten up if this done-I am not sure. I gladly combine shipping. Please let me know when you have finished shopping and I will send you a revised invoice. Antique Vintage Brass Casement Window Sash Hook Swing Arm Lock Black Handle Door
As a vintage and antique hardware nerd. I am really not even sure how to describe these, I just know that I love them! It seems that they were originally designed to be used to latch a casement type window. They are brass with black coated handles. The black substance appears to be rubber. But I can't really tell, it is hard and shiny almost like bakelite or some form of heavy rubberized plastic. The end forms a hook that would keep a brass bar from being raised on an antique casement window. I also think that it could be used as a door latch. Or something to keep a chest or antique type freezer closed. Please note that one is left facing and one is right facing if they are both to be latched facing downward. I have tried to give you photos showing all angles. Antique Diamond Pattern Window Sash Casement Transom Cabinet Side Light 3911-14
Great old pair antique diamond pattern window sashes. 3 pieces of glass are cracked the rest is good. The both have nice heavy brass hinges attached. One is a little bent. They show some wear and age but are very solid and usable. They would need a reglazing to seal them. These great windows have potential for many different uses, transoms, casements, side lights, or even cabinet doors. Overall they are in good usable condition.
