PreColumbian Old Stone beads, Old Spindles, Old Shell beads from Peru RARE,
This is a 20 inch strand of old Peruvian beads. Exactly as how I purchased it over 15 years ago in Peru. There are some fantastic pieces here. My two favorites are the mother of pearl bead featured in the second photo, and the stone bead with carved threads two beads from it. This would make fantastic ethnic or tribal jewelry.

PRECOLUMBIAN GIANT FROG BOWL Narino Colombia
SquareTrade © AP6.0 This is a reproduction of an original piece from the Capuli culture. Which flourished between 850-1500 A.D. in the mountainous regions near the Colombia-Equador border. This piece is a sacred recipient, a bowl on a slightly raised support, that indicates the importance of its contents. Decorated with raised frog and geometric figures, its use was ceremonial, and can be found in the dark red and black colors most representative of this group. Little is known about these cultures that occupied the area in and near Colombia. The Capuli were excellent goldsmiths and ceramists. The pieces that have survived are of extraordinary beauty. Because of the abundance of gold in the area, once the Spaniards arrived, whole groups were wiped out to loot the treasures. The legend of El Dorado fueled more and more exploration. Even ... moretoday, burial grounds can be discovered and pillaged, leaving little to study. Ceramics that remain today are from tombs, and are ceremonial in their use, representing rituals and events in their lives. Governments have now made international trade of these original pieces illegal. As we piece together bits left behind. We can begin to see cultures that were quite amazing, and begin to see how our world is not as large as we often believe. These pieces are an homage to those cultures. Carefully examined and studied by an experienced archeologist, they are faithfully reproduced from originals, hand crafted by applying the same techniques and the same natural materials used by ancient potters in its elaboration and decoration. Measurements: 9 ½” diameter. 7” high. Ceramic, negative painting, polychrome b

EXCLUSIVE! AVAILABLE NOWHERE ELSE! click image to enlarge. c lick picture to enlarge Name: TAINO LIZARD AMULET Location: Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands Culture: Taino Time: c. 1.000 to 1,500 AD Replica of Carved Bone LIZARD AMULET When Columbus first landed on the islands of the Bahamian archipelago. He described the animal life as follows: On land I saw no animal of any kind except parrots and lizards. Today there are few to no natural parrots on the ... moreIslands, but there still are lizards. This carving is probably of an Iguana deity, and was originally part of a larger piece such as a scepter. This lizard figure apparently was broken off in ancient times(this is apparent from close inspection) A hole was then drilled near the top and the piece appears to have been worn as a amulet. The original piece was discovered during archeological excavations in Puerto Rico. The figure may represent Marohu. The Spirit of good weather. Marohu was the son of Iguana and was born in the maternal cavern, Iguanaboina cave. He took for himself the representation of the Iguana whose dorsal crest looks like rays of the sun and hence'good weather' Together with his twin brother, Boinayel. God of Rain, the two represent the balance of weather- between sun and rain. However their clashing egos can cause terrible catastrophes for humans. The name iguana or"higuana" is a Taino word. The syllable"gua" begins the Taino words for gold. Parrots, fire, and the names of many chiefs(caciques) It is possible that"gua" was a designation for a favored thing. Indeed, iguanas were one of the favored foods of the Tainos, but b

PRECOLUMBIAN PIARTAL LARGE BOWL Narino Colombia
This is a reproduction of an original piece from the Piartal culture. Which flourished between 750-1250 A.D. in the mountainous regions near the Colombia-Equador border. This piece was used as a ceremonial dish. Decorated with geometric figures on one side, and raised facial features on the other, it apprears in the colors most representative of life for this group: yellow for the abundance of the sun, black for the wise and silent night, and red for the life inside man. Little is known about these cultures that occupied the area in and near Colombia. The Piartal were excellent goldsmiths and ceramists. The pieces that have survived are of extraordinary beauty. Because of the abundance of gold in the area, once the Spaniards arrived, whole groups were wiped out to loot the treasures. The legend of El Dorado fueled more and more exploration. ... moreEven today, burial grounds can be discovered and pillaged, leaving little to study. These pieces pay homage to those cultures. Carefully examined and studied by an experienced archeologist, they are faithfully reproduced from originals, hand crafted by applying the same techniques used by ancient potters in its elaboration and decoration. This pot is made in a resin reinforced ceramic material, identical to traditional ceramic, but lighter weight, unbreakable and resistant to water, making it excellent for use with plants. Measurements: 13.5” wide. 7” high. Ceramic, negative painting, polychromatic. Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.

Precolumbian sculpture #36,Teotihuacán, Mexico, animal, probably 1,500+ yrs old
Precolumbian head from Teotihuacán. Mexico(1) Precolumbian. Sculpted, ceramic head; most likely 500 A.D. or older(That is 1,000 years or more before Cortez invaded Mexico and conquered the Aztecs. The Aztecs, who arrived in the Valley of Mexico long after Teotihuacán was abandoned, named the ruins Teotihuacán- place of the gods. The Aztecs and the Greeks had the same word for gods- teo. 2) Dimensions. approximately 1 inch by 1" by half an inch" I apologize for not providing metric dimensions. I live in a country that clings to ancient English measuring systems instead of the clearly superior and much more functional metric system. 3) Medium. clay. Hard fired under great heat. 4) Provenance. I found this head(and other heads) in a farmer's field near the center of the ruins of Teotihuacán. Near Mexico City, ... morein 1966 or 1967, when I was an anthropology student at the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City. Generally, these farmers' fields were rocky and dusty but rain would wash the dust off the rocks and reveal that some of them had faces- and were terracotta heads and not rocks. Many times, after a rain, I would take a bus from Mexico City to Teotihuacán, explore the farmers' fields, and look for those features that were not visible when covered with dust. In this way, I acquired dozens of precolumbian heads. How to distinguish an authentic precolumbian sculpture from a fake: 1) provinance; know the source; 2) study precolumbian anthropology; see what's in the museums and the books; 3) lick. Or otherwise wet, the object and see how long it takes to dry; ancient ceramics take a long time to dry because they are more porous than new ceramics. Views of this old head- which looks like a monkey- show front. Side, and back. RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fv%7F.rpn37%3E-13d6496e9b7-0x101-
