DESCRIPTION: This is a very durable. Beautiful and unusual stone planter with a plumbed drainage hole and has more than enough planting space for a one gallon plant. It is unique in shape because of the wavy. Notched rim but also style as it is designed with six faces of Athena. The Goddess of War. Encircle this amazing piece. No matter which side faces you. This planter is no longer available through Smith& Hawken since they went out-of-business several years ago. The container measures 8" tall and is more than 12" wide and weighs 20 lbs. Give or take. What is especially nice is the classic weathered white patina. It is a very traditional and sophisticated antique white, very nice color which works indoors too. As you can see this statue has small pocks. Pitting and general erosion from the original antique, but unlike that item which was clearly deteriorating. This casting is secure and 100% intact. It is obviously not made of chintzy plastic or chippy plaster but is solid cement concrete and entirely safe to plant directly and keep outdoors. Hi this'buy it now auction' is for 1 Antique Granite trough. This stone trough measures close to 40"s long by approximately 18" wide. 11" high and has roughly an 6.5"+-inside depth. The trough is in very nice condition and has a drain hole in the bottom side, there was another drain hole in the bottom middle but has been plugged as seen in the pictures. We occasionally find more these but they are becoming quite scarce. Originally used on farms for feeding animals. This beautiful item now makes an excellent garden planter, accent piece or water feature. Not matching posts but they can be used together as a pair, the sizes are: 1st post is 50 inches high. 12 inches wide at the bottom narrowing to 8 inches at the top. 7 inches deep. 2nd is 57 inches high and 10 inches wide. Slightly less at the top and 7 inches deep. Overall very good condition with great character. One of the posts has 2 x fair sized holes from previous fixings which could be re-used or maybe you'd prefer to show them just as they are. At our old farmhouse these posts were in place as a pair and the fact they did not match was not noticeable. They were positioned about 12 foot apart and were the opening to a track. We have pieces of magnificent yesteryear architecture. Stone masons have created these works of art for wealthy patrons in Rochester many years ago. We have a stone arch. Corbels, carriage stepping stones, and hitching post. Included in this deal are two large pieces of thick marble. You can not reproduce them for the asking price of this auction. I do not know the exact location of these salvaged pieces but I know they are from Rochester. The marble is about 2 inches deep. 24 inches wide, and 72 inches long. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! Wellllll. It won't be the first time my husband told me he thought I was crazy for buying something, and I'm sure it won't be the last! I will tell you, that it was uttered while he was hoisting it out of the ground to take it to the truck! Now, there was a pile of outdoor or garden stuff around the outside of the barn- she had some large stones that looked like gristmill stones, and then ... morethere was this beauty, behind a pile. I'm calling it concrete just because that's my best guess from looking at it. It could be some other stone-stone- but I can't tell if it is(my true guess is concrete) don't worry, it's old, and may very well be old enough to be antique, based on the look of it- I just don't want to say for sure as I don't know. I also don't know- did it once have some type of utilitarian purpose like a grinding stone? If so, I can't find a hole in it, like you'd expect. She did have a fair number of old grinding stones, I will tell you- all outside. Like I'm saying in my title, this one weighs 13 lbs- and, it's pretty much the size of a bowling ball- at about 8 1/2" diameter. It's as you see it.how do I describe it.well, I think the patina is beautiful- it's mud covered, and dark, and earthy and moss covered. The moss being on the top and sides, most of the mud being on the underside where it lay, but there's plenty to go around, if you know what I mean. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! I was saying in one of my other listings that she had old stones piled up against the barn and on the ground- some large and clearly grist mill stones. And others- I don't know. This one actually was the smallest in a series of graduating stones piled together of the same shape and material- I had to take the smallest as it would have been cost prohibitive to ship any of the others- this ... moreone, at 13 lbs, fits inside of a flat rate box, whereas the others would not have. Now, I don't know if it's a stone, or if it's moded concrete- please supersize and see what you think. It's very pourous and rough on the outside, and has a patina that I think looks darker to my eye than it does with the light reflection on my screen. It has some darker, rusty colored spots on it to- that actually look like rust, maybe from something that was on it in the day? Did it have a utilitarian purpose? It doesn't have a hole in the center as you'd expect from a grinding stone, but I can't help but think that there was a purpose- especially since there were more of them and they all graduated in size- like big rock weights! I'm calling it older vintage, but I do think that it could be old enough to be antique. Enough of what I don't know- I KNOW that it is a really really cool primitive piece, and it would make a great piece for your own garden, or a perfect rustic pedestal for anywhere. This is a very fine solid concrete bench from our 1912 Wilmette home we are restoring(North Shore of Chicago. IL) Excellent age and weathered patina. Three pieces with detailed edging along curved feet. Edging of bench are somewhat"weathered" adding to the beauty and historic precedence it captures. An original piece of history from our home that we wish we had an ideal spot to keep. So sad to see it propped up in our garage unused. Gorgeous Primitive Old Vintage Concrete Stone Garden Owl Signed 37 1/2 lbs! So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! I still have a bunch garden items that were around the barn that I have yet to list(there was a boatload of old garden pieces just piled up on the barn sides) this is one of my favorites. This oldee weighs a shocking 37 1/2 lbs! Whooo-hoo-hoo would'a thunk? It's the rustic image of an owl. I thought at first that it was carved stone(and maybe it is- I really don't know) But then I see ... morea vertical line going down the back that makes me wonder if maybe it's cast concrete? Take a look and see what you think- it's one of the two, for sure. What I didn't realize until now is that the piece has a maker's mark- at the very bottom of the back, impressed(stamped) into the base is a name that I cannot make out. The backside of it looks to be INTL Inc. but I'm not totally sure. To the left of that, hand marked, you see what looks like, A20A, or something like that. In photos 9-11, I'm showing you the line that I think looks like a seam, in photo 11, if you look all the way at just a smidge above the bottom- that's where the mark is- it's hard to see in that photo, and I'm sorry I didn't get a close up for you, but I'm fairly certain you may not be able to read it either. The piece measures 17" tall, 6" at its widest and about 6" at its deepest. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition- totally sturdy, if there's a chip, I can't see it. The top of the middle plinth is marked with an"E" I was told this is unusual and is carved red stone and is 19th century or earlier. Pictures show white spots on the planter which is simply dried moss in the flash. Urn was purchased from a fine Rhode Island estate last year and is currently in my storage.
