Hello and welcome Measurements: 4-3/4"tall x 15-1/4"long x 10-1/4"deep For sale is this primitive RUMFORD BAKING POWDER wood advertising box. On the front of the box it says: KEEP IN DRY PLACE RUMFORD. On the sides of box it has: 2 DOZ. 1/2 LB. CANS, RUMFORD, THE WHOLESOME BAKING POWDER, on the bottom there is something written, but I'm unable to read it. I believe that this box is from the early 1900's. The corners are dovetailed jointed. But the bottom is nailed along the outer corners of the bottom edge. Still has the original soft patina, with some scuffs, nicks, chips to the pine wood, missing one small section on the back of the box(please see all pictures) This box is still SOLID and in good condition! The stake was used by a real English gardener on a wealthy estate in New Jersey during approx.the 1940s-60s. Remnants of the label is visible and appears to be called a TRIMSTIK. Manufactured in Newton? Mass. The wooden stake measures 33" long and has the original red paint. The rusty metal reel has string wrapped around, not certain if this is original. Handmade vintage primitive rustic red barn wood wall hanging art
This art piece is a visually striking repurposed use of vintage farm items. The red barn wood is a prime example of one hundred year old wood salvaged here in southwest Wisconsin. The vintage cast iron rotary hoe wheel was used in a farm garden. The red kooks came off a hay wagon and were painted red. On the back of the piece. The two boards are held together with decades old tobacco lath used by farmers in the area. This piece would look in multiple locations. It would add a country touch to a home or restaurant. Or would look good hanging from a porch, or hanging from a garden fence or just propped up in the garden. The wood has lasted a hundred years outside already, so no problems there, and cast iron mostly just surface rusts. Rotary hoe wheels are often placed in gardens because they look like flowers. Old Primitive Antique Bulb Digger Hand Held Planter Wood& Iron Americana Folk So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! You know. I've only ever sold one other of these before- it's a fabulous antique garden tool that you still could use today. What I have is an old bulb digger/planter. A simple too, with a solid oak handle that is capped with an iron spike at the end. It's really comfortable to hold, and appears to be hand made. It measures 4" long at the handle, and then turns and is 9 1/2 ... morelong from the corner to the end of the spike. It weighs just over 1/2 lb, so is pretty hefty for the size. The spike is attached with 3 small nails or pins- whatever you call them. It will wiggle ever so slightly if you jiggle it back and forth, but don't worry, it's slight(and may be original to the making) the spike is well attached and this is a totally usable tool. The wood is in excellent condition structurally and shows lots of wear from age and use- there's scratches, scrapes, nicks, dings, dark spots and light spots. I'm showing you the largest scrape in photo 14- it's about 1" and it's shallow and right up by the top of the spike on one side. The spike has surface rust that is very light, old and smooth- just part of the patina- which is dark for the whole thing. It's a fabulous antique tool that looks as good as it works! This vintage dovetailed tote looks handmade many years ago. But it is still sturdy. It can be used for gardening, small tools, utensils, etc. Measurements are: 7 1/2 wide X 11 3/4" long X 2 1/4" high. Also, two shovels are included in this auction. The large shovel is 12" long X 3 1/2" wide that has previously been painted red(see photo#6) The child's shovel is 8" long X 2 1/4" wide. There is a tiny bit of green or blue paint on the backside. There are some words stenciled onto the back side(photo#12) but I cannot make out what they say. This would make a very nice decorating piece. The metal hopper looks very old. The top to the hopper needs to be resecured on the one side. The other side is secured with a nail. I believe this is how it was made, though I cannot be sure of that. Stands 34" tall.
