I am selling a large amount of original DISNEYLAND memorabilia DISNEYANA from an estate here in Scottsdale Az. This wonderful VERY RARE vintage Authentic ... moreDisneyland SOLID CAST IRON PARK BENCH that was made on the lot and placed when Disneyland first opened in 1955. It wasnt realized until time for the first MAIN STREET PARADE how heavy the benches were for the workers to remove and set aside to make way for the parade. It only took the one time for the crew to realize this problem. So the heavy cast iron benches were put away and used for prototype for much lighter benches. This bench has provenance to it as you can see in the following information that is included. Here is what I know to be true: This Disney park bench came from the estate of Richard(Dick) Pfahler who was one of Walt Disney's earliest employees.You can look this info up) At the time of Richard's hire. Walt's studio was on Hyperion in Hollywood. Richard retired from Walt Disney Productions in 1974. Upon Dick's retirement. Disneyland presented him with 2 of these cast iron original benches. Upon Richards passing the Disneyland benches were left to his daughter Melinda Pfahler Schussele of Scottsdale Az. Who forwarded all this info to me to share in the listing. Melinda was also a long time employee of Disney as well. Melinda gave one of the benches to friends in California(where it still remains) when she moved to Arizona and this is the one she kept which I am listing. It has all original wood slats from 1955 and has been kept in very nice original condition. The bench measures at least 5 foot in length and is about 2.5 ft in width and weighs at least 500 lbs(just guessing) The bench will be on local pick up only or buyer can arrange shipping. Up for your consideration is a SOLID CAST IRON Scrolled Grape Leaf/Ivy Garden Bench. This is a BEAUTIFUL piece. And NOT A REPRODUCTION. Measures approx. 37" wide. seat is 33" long. 12" deep. Total height is 27" seat to ground is 14" There is minimal paint layers( it only appears to have been painted once) Paint has thinned in areas from weathering. And is chippy. Surface rust as shown. This is a nice old 3 piece antique set of very heavy cast iron patio or garden furniture. All three pieces have a matching grape leaf/vine design. The bench has a"HART" foundry mark. And is 40" wide arm to am- chairs 20" wide. They are all painted white. All three pieces are in good solid condition with normal amount of rust and paint wear and chipping. I've shown all sides in my photos and some close-ups. Set is very heavy and is for local pickup only. Located 10 miles East of Evansville. Not sure of the age. But a very heavy set in nice condition for the age. It appears to be the grape leaves pattern on all. There is a love seat. 2 regular side chairs, 2 chairs alittle bit narrower than the regular chairs, and a long box planter. Not sure if these originally were a set. But they look nice together.
