Meubles RINCK" is an entity specializing in high end furniture inside the RINCK group. The desk is 52" wide x 27" deep x 30 1/2" high. The underside is stamped with the maker's mark by M. Rinck and the seal of"UNION NATle INDUSTRIE FRANCAISES DE L'AMEUBLEMENT" The 3 drawers all lock with a deadbolt and each have their own key. The two outside drawers measure 10 1/2" wide X 20" deep X 3" high with the middle drawer measuring 15 1/2" wide X 21" deep X 3" high. This desk was my father's pride and joy. My earliest memories of it date back to the 1970s when we lived in NYC and it was in his private study. It is in excellent condition with signs of use on the burgundy leather working area on top which also has a couple of stains. A competent furniture restorer can easily replace this leather piece but I would order a replacement directly from Rinck to preserve the desk's heritage. The following information was supplied by Rinck in reply to my recent email inquiry regarding the desk's provenance: Dear Sir, I can confirm that desk is coming from our company and Parisian work shop. I can not be more precise about the year. Because all client's files are archived, but: It is a Louis XV style desk, traditionally manufactured with a solid oak structure, with mortaises and tenons joined, hand dovetail joins for the drawers, black lacquered finishing, ornate with sand casted, chiseled, and ormolu set of bronze. The round UNIFA stamp on the underside of the desk is there to assure the desk has respectability and was constructed to the standards of the Professional Union. This splendid Victorian dresser offers beautiful raised panels of burl walnut on the mirror portion as well as on the drawer fronts. And the top of the mirror has a wonderful carved cartouche with walnut roundels accenting the top portion of the mirror. This lovely dresser measures a total height to the top of the pediment on the mirror of 91 inches( 7ft 6" The dresser width measures 42 1/4 inches, dresser depth measures 18 1/4 inches, and the height from the floor to the top of the marble measures 29 1/4 inches, and this piece weighs approximately 150 lbs. The mirror portion and the marble does lift off to allow easier transport and moving. We believe the mirror to be original and it measures 35 inches high by 19 inches wide and does show some light spotting that's age appropriate. The marble on the base is also original and is in wonderful antique condition with no chips or cracks. The dresser base offers three storage drawers each having the original brass Eastlake pulls and all the locks are intact on the drawers but we do not have they key.
