It's very stable and sturdy. The seat covering couldn't be over a year or so in age. It would be very easy to replace the fabric on the seat with one of your favorite colors or patterns. It has pretty cabriolet style legs on pad feet. It has a unique set of handles made into the frame on each side of the seat. At one time the lid had either a connector or chain attached to it. HEPPLEWHITE SHERATON FEDERAL MAHOGANY VANITY DRESSER
This is a lovely Federal Era mahogany dresser. I believe this to be a period piece. It is constructed of mahogany with contrasting veneers. The bottom board of the drawers have a chamfered edge to fit into the drawer slots as well as hand dovetailing. The veneer does have some cracking around the edges as shown in pictures but in overall good condition for the age of the piece. Also pictured is a repair to the mirror frame that seems to have been done a long time ago. It is a very good repair in respect to the strength. It does not feel loose at all. Lastly. It also looks as if the mirror frame was burned by a candle at some point. I have tried to show all of this in the photos as to accurately depict. antique federal mahogany heavily carved vanity dolphins for base and mirror harp
for auction is a wonderful federal heavily carved mahogany vanity built circa 1850. this is a great piece has wonderful claw feet with winged extensions all the way around. Two levels of drawers each with flamed mahogany rounded fronts and period dove-tailed ends, four spiral twist legs with a lovely stretcher shelf and turned knob feet. layaway available on any of my listings should anyone have an interest in that. up for auction is the nicest empire vanity i have seen in all the years i have been messing with antiques. i bought this not long ago and have it in my dining room as there is no where else to put it in my 20 room house. i have another one in a bedroom upstairs that i will list shortly. hopefully it will sell and not this one as i want to actually keep this one. anyway. I have seen a dozen or so of these, but none this nice. it is serpentine, heavily carved mirror harp, pedestal, feet and wings, along with carved roping surrounding the vanity top. the mirror shows some fog, which does not bother me, i can have that corrected for about 100.00 should someone want that accomplished. it is free from damage or repairs as far as i can ascertain. i think the knobs on ... morethe two serpentine drawers are original as well. this is a wonderful empire piece made around 1860 or so i think out of the most wonderful flame mahogany as you will find. the piece has wonderful patina and is gorgeous. the pictures do not do it justice. it stands 49.5 to the top of the mirror, it is about 30 inches to the vanity top and 22 inches deep at the widest point of the serpentine top. it is 44 inches wide at the back of the top and 38 inches wide at the front of the top. shipping will be the buyers responsibility. you may arrange a carrier, or i will do it for you, or you may pick it up at my home. if the carrier requires a crate, i will build it for the cost of the material and will not charge any labor. the material will cost about 50.00 for the crate, if required. i need to sell one of these vanities, don't have room for both. i am starting this at probably all it is worth, but if you want the best, this is for you! i bought it because it was the nicest one i have seen in years and years. i doubt you can find another one like it, and if so, it will be expensive. i will be glad to answer any questions or supply other pictures upon request. good luck

In its original light reddish-brown finish, ... moreit has a touch of empire, but also has an industrialized European look to it. It’s in beautiful condition. We had to re-glue and re-spray the top, which had split over the years, and now it matches perfectly with the rest of the patina. It has four little dainty handcut dovetail drawers on the top, which we call ditty boxes, for ladies’ pieces of jewelry. There is also a little swivel mirror in the center that’s in great condition, and a lovely beveled edge that’s not serpentine but is scroll-like and molded, and it stands on big, tall cabriole legs. The overall size is 45 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 30 inches high to the base, and 58 inches to the top of the mirror. The mirror frame is 17.5 inches wide, and 24 inches high. From antiques estate! seems to be mahogany, a nice dark wood, with nice patina brass drawer knobs and swivel hardware for the mirror. so much detail work in the carving of the reeded cheval brace topped with the beautiful pineapple finials. Click on photos for close up view! There is a slight overall haze in the mirror's silvering, commensurates with the true turn of century glass mirrors. This is about 18 inches tall x 19 inches wide x 12 inches deep. A couple very minor knicks and a burnt burl spot on the flat surface-see photos. Beautiful wood. this appears to have been gently used. The serpentine mahogany base is on four bun feet, the elevation with finely figured mahogany veneers. The mahogany mirror uprights are carved as acanthus scrolls, the mirror frame with figured veneers. It measures 34" tall by 31" wide by 12-1/2" deep at center. This beautifully shaped vanity is very old and in very good condition for age. There are limited minor imperfections from age. I was never sure about the type of wood but now I believe it to be mahogany. It is lighter weight. There are two side drawers on the step-up section and one larger one in the lower center. It has a lower shelf stretcher. No repairs have been made that I am aware of. No oil. It has always been kept in a corner, avoiding sunlight. This beauty stands a whopping 33" tall. Is 28" wide, and 11.5 deep. She has lots of chips and a patch job. Please view pictures carefully. An antique 19th century dressing table/vanity in mahogany with two drawers and bottom shelf. Measuring approximately 54.5" tall to the top of the mirror, 35.75" wide, and 18" deep. It is in good antique condition with normal wear and tear commensurate with age and use- some dings and scratching found commonly on old furniture. This diminutive antique mahogany chest was probably a vanity or jewelry chest for a man with one drawer and original brass handle. It is mostly handmade with a hand dovetailed drawer. Hand chamfered drawer bottom and hand sawn arch ends. The front of the drawer appears to be burl. The front of the drawer and front legs are reeded. I would date it as early 1800's. THE NUMBER 180(WHICH IS STAMPED ON THE BACK OF THE MIRROR AND TABLE) AND THE WORD"DOVETAIL" THE LEFT BOTTOM DRAWER DOES RECESS INTO THE DRESSER ABOUT 2 INCHES MORE THAN THE OTHERS. THIS ANTIQUE IS OVER 130 YEARS OLD AND THERE ARE LIGHT SCUFFS AND SCRACHES HERE AND THERE. BUT IT IS IN OVER ALL VERY NICE CONDITION. THERE IS ALSO ONE FAINT SPLIT IN THE WOOD BORDERING THE MIRROR. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO SEE IT IN THE 8TH PHOTO, BUT IT IS VERY LIGHT. THE MIRROR AND CARVED STAND FOR THE MIRROR DO DETACH FROM THE TABLE FOR EASY TRANSPORT. WE WERE ABLE TO TRANSPORT THIS ANTIQUE IN A MID SIZE SUV WITH PLENTY OF ROOM. MEASUREMENTS: 62 1/2" HIGH X 41" WIDE X 22 1/2" DEEP. THIS WOULD BE A FANTASTIC HISTORIAL TIME PIECE TO ADD TO ANY HOME. Antique Mahogany Vanity W/mirror Circa 1880
This vanity I acquired from my grandmother about 40 years ago but that doesn't even begin to date it. It had originally belonged to her grandmother. It was built originally in the late 1800's. I dated it based on what could be found for it's style and that my grandmother remembered it when she was a young child. My grandmother was born in 1885. It came by horse and buggy from St Louis in 1898. It has had a couple of changes since then. One was new drawers in the 1930's and the other was a new mirror after arriving here as the original broke during the trip. The vanity will be shipped in one or two boxes. It has several small screws which will allow the legs to be removed as well as the drawers and mirror. It is a very simple task to reassemble and all pieces will be marked to be sure they are in the right place. The vanity ... moreis quite strong and the drawers slide easily. I would live to keep the piece but am needing to sell most things due to an upcoming move to much smaller space. You won't be disappointed and wether for yourself or a little girl to grow into this vanity will be a delight for many more decades.
