It is made of solid wood, I believe it is mahogany and has beautiful grain. It is ... morein exceptionally good condition, for an antique, but does have some light surface scratches on the finish, but not many. There are a couple of small areas of veneer loss. These areas are on the right side edge of the top at the back on both the right and left sides, and one small area on the bottom drawer front next to the front leg. The dresser has a beautifully curved front design similar to a bombe style. The chest of drawers has reeded accents running down both sides at the front that continues onto all four feet, which are straight and tapering. The drawers have the original oval bail pull brass hardware on them. The drawers have dovetail joints. The dresser is 40.75” tall, 42.

Antique 19th Century Mahogany Chest of Drawers - Dresser - Square Nails
It is an antique chest. The chest has mahogany veneer. The drawer sides and bottom are made of oak. The drawers have square nails and the underside of the drawers are hand chamfered. The interior of the pulls have carved mother of pearl. It is 48 1/2" tall x 21" deep x 49" wide. The chest is in fair used condition. The drawers open and close fairly smooth. The veneer has some warping. Chips and old repairs. The top is loose and has some dings, staining and remnants of tape. Overall, it presents well. A true antique. The chest has one full width drawer at the top. Two half-width drawers on the left are paired with a large compartment on the right, possibly originally intended for a chamber pot. The drawer pulls appear to be replacements, although the pull for the compartment, plus lock and escutcheon appear to be original. The Chest of Drawers measures 30 inches high. 40-3/4 inches wide, and 20 inches deep. There is a piece of thick glass that has been added, covering the top of the Chest. This chest was recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland and was manufactured in either Victorian England or Scotland. The warm patina of the mahogany has a satin luster that would mesh well with most decorating styles. The outward bow of the facade brings an element of brightening elegance to any setting. The two-on-three style drawers provide a great deal of storage. All of the drawers come equipped with all-brass hardware and lock escutcheons. However there is no key. The edges of the drawers are ... moredecorated with a fine bead molding. Just under the top molding is a handsomely inlaid double end spear design done from satinwood string inlay. The piece sits on a pair of very sturdy shaped bracket feet. The dresser is around 145 years old and in good condition overall. The drawers open easily and shut tight. The brass pulls are fastened securely to the drawers although they are not original to this antique dresser. There is a small chip in one as pictured. The mold around the top has been repaired on all sides. There is also a strong repair on the front right foot. Legend goes that this was designed a long time ago(you can find them nowadays coming out of Germany. Belgium and Denmark) This particular dresser represented the workers seven days of the week and he had the respective clothes with Sunday being the most special day, so it held the most clothes. They were never made with handles and the drawers are opened with the use of a key. Some people argue that the white escutcheon it is a plastic composite and other say it is celluloid. I just say it is very nice to keep it original. This particular chest dates from the 1850s era and is in wonderful condition.
