Governor of LA 1831-1835, comes this fantastic, period 1815-25 American Sheraton Line Inlaid Mahogany Dressing Mirror, early 19th c. Of fine original condition and constructed of mahogany with line inlay. Turned finials, split balusters and original glass, the dressing mirror is attributed to Annapolis or Maryland in origin(where Andre Roman was educated and graduated, 1815, about the time this piece was made) The rectangular mirror on turned supports. To a base with three frieze drawers flanked by turned half columns. Drawers are finely dovetailed. Finish is original. H.27 1/2 in. W.27 1/2 in. D. 8 3/4 in. This and a host of other fine and important antiques and paintings were discovered and sold ... morelast year from the estate of Ida Marie Roman de la Villebeuvre(b: 1862 m: 03/30/1910 in New Orleans. LA d: 02/1941 in New Orleans, LA) Ida’s heirs had meticulously packed all these items away for 50 years. Providing a million dollar treasure trove of early and mid 19 th century art and fine antiques coming from Andre Roman’s estate. Included were paintings by early LA artists. Fine porcelain and French crystal, and furnishings from the Roman and Villebeuvre families. Ida de la Villebeuvre was daughter of Eli Faurault La Villebeuvre and Jeanne Roman. Daughter of Andre Roman. They were married December 20, 1852 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, LA. Eli was the son of Jean Ursin La Villebeuvre, an important early colonial leader and hero in Louisiana. Here is a very nice antique Sheraton dressing mirror. It is marked on inside bottom of drawer. I can make out: FROM CW BOTELER STORE 7th Street WASHINGTON D.C. I haven't been able to make out the words above STORE. It is in very good antique condition. Looks to me to be all original except it has been refinished at some point in time. Nice inlay banding around the mirror and around the front of case. This measures 14-1/8" long by 6-1/2" deep by 16-1/4" high to very top. Mirror part measures 12" x 9-3/4. Feel free to ask any questions. I can ship it standard mail if buyer prefers that over priority mail for probably a lesser cost. But not guaranteed.
