The upholstery is not original, re-done at some point in time but it is cheerful& perfectly servicable with no holes, tears or odors. The upholstery could be easily recovered in you choose. Although there is no mattress.I guess there must have been some padding at one time. Im sure you creative types out there can figure out exactly how this originally functioned. When open, the front section is webbed& has inner springs, perhaps the back section also did at one time. There is a heavy iron center latch& thick iron fold-down corner supports. On the one side you can see 2 folding iron frames that come to rest at an angle, presumably as headrests. The sofa measures 72.5 inches long, 21.5 inches deep& 33 inches high with a 23 inch high pillow end& 16 inch high seat.
