This splendid Victorian dresser offers beautiful raised panels of burl walnut on the mirror portion as well as on the drawer fronts. And the top of the mirror has a wonderful carved cartouche with walnut roundels accenting the top portion of the mirror. This lovely dresser measures a total height to the top of the pediment on the mirror of 91 inches( 7ft 6" The dresser width measures 42 1/4 inches, dresser depth measures 18 1/4 inches, and the height from the floor to the top of the marble measures 29 1/4 inches, and this piece weighs approximately 150 lbs. The mirror portion and the marble does lift off to allow easier transport and moving. We believe the mirror to be original and it measures 35 inches high by 19 inches wide and does show some light spotting that's age appropriate. The marble on the base is also original and is in wonderful antique condition with no chips or cracks. The dresser base offers three storage drawers each having the original brass Eastlake pulls and all the locks are intact on the drawers but we do not have they key. Just a very sturdy and well made Victorian Eastlake Walnut Marble Top dresser that would make a great addition to an Eastlake Victorian bedroom. The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made. The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the highly sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of hand rubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction. Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years. The photos show casters in the legs. They will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. This piece is solid.
