Description: This listing is for a ... moreFine 20th Century Reverse Serpentine Chest of Drawers. It is not labeled. But is of simply superb quality in every aspect. A large solid mahogany top, molded and incredibly carved on the facade and formed in the reverse serpentine of the chest, rests over a collection of four graduated drawers. The chamfered and fluted corners flank the drawers. Each fully serpentine in form. The flamed mahogany veneers framed in cockbead molding applied around the edges of the drawer, hiding the dovetail construction of the drawers on the front. These are exposed on the backs of each drawer, with oak secondary woods completing the frame of the drawers for heavy solid pieces that are built to last many lifetimes. The case rests over four bracket feet, the front two also bevelled on the corners to mirror the chest. This is an absolutely gorgeous chest of drawers. Firm and solid in every aspect of it and of outstanding form. The proportions are excellent for functional use, each drawer deep and with easy action. Moreover, the construction used in the chest is above reproach, making this an investment that will be passed down through generations- not just a fine piece of furniture for today. With a classic design that works flawlessly in any number of design scenarios, and a price that is barely a fraction of what a Period Reverse Serpentine Chest would cost, this chest will be a wonderful addition to your home.
