Antiquarian cast iron farm/garden hardware keepsake for the farm house decorative accent, the collection or rustic restoration project. Offered here is an original(circa 1890-1920) cast iron Baby Chick, that has apprently lost her mother hen. Not knowing the exacting history behind this wonderful piece of cast iron; the little chick may have been part of an advertising sign or display at the regional grain store or farm/livestock jobber? The antiquarian farm animal(4 1/8" height x 2 1/8" base diameter) is open at the bottom, resembling what one may find with early fence post and garden gate finials. The early cast iron hatchling could possibly be put to use as a door stop; being quite hefty for its size. The antiquarian baby chick ... moreaffords the farm collector, some very nice detailing from the top of her head to her little feet, wading through the grass. The baby chicken shows some obvious patina, predominantly at the base and collar interior/edges(see pics) There is a small hole at the toes of the baby chick as well. I have many window sash weights. They range between 4 pounds(which are about 7"8" long) 5 pounds(which are 11"12" long) and 6- 6.5 pounds(which are about 14"15" long) The most i have are of the 6 pound weights. Up for bidding is this beautiful antique cathedral shaped wooden window frame with cast iron insert. Perfect for decorative applications. There is no glass in the window. Frame insert is well crafted into a stained glass design with sweeping curves and diamond shaped accents. The quality iron and wood work places this frame in the early 1900's. Window has amazing patina with different layers of color showing through the white paint top layer that is chipping and flaking off. How many big and small hands and years to you think it took to wear away the brass finish and the black paint put on years later? The grasp has a 3” grip opening or what I would call an average ... moresize hands 4 finger pull. These would have had a brass finish but only a tad of that is remaining along with a speck of old black paint at places. They also have a smooth darken appearance with traces of light smooth surface rust. If you lightly wipe these down and give them a clear coat these will retain their patina for many more years to come. These would work great on large windows or screen doors or on heavy drawers. These are well made and heavy and nothing like the cheaply made imports of today. The measurements are taken at the attachment base and are about 4 5/8” long x 1 3/8” wide with the center to center of the screw holes being 4” x ¾” Free first class shipping in a padded envelope.
