Hi and welcome to the auction! Up for your consideration& bid is a used antique trunk. See description below. Condition: Acceptable-Good Used Condition- the trunk needs major restoration. It's still usable and the locks on the front do work(to a degree) I don't have a key to the trunk and as you can see by the pictures. It needs a lot of work if you want it to be in pristine condition. I was told by my parents when my Grandpa died years ago that this was his personal trunk when we was in the Army and served in the Korean War. They said he had this before the War so that's why I've put the age Pre-1950's. Now. Whether that's true or not, I don't have any certifications or papers that go with this trunk. It's just a family story that you can decipher for yourselves as to the correct age of the trunk. You are bidding on an antique R H Macy& Co Oshkosh wardrobe steamer trunk! This is a very neat piece. It has stickers from the White Star Lines and Cunard. It is in good condition for it's age. The main issue I see is the lock has bee popped and will need to be replaced. The leather handle strap is also missing. Other than that it is in great used condition. It is rather large and heavy so it will have to be shipped via blanket shippers. I would recommend Plycon Vanlines. Conway or Uship.com but you can use whomever you like. For your bidding consideration; a very rare find. This is a Seward Bag and Trunk Company"Sewardrobe" antique trunk which was patented on April 13. 1915. In the interior on the left, you will find all the drawers intact including the tie downs. The top drawer has built in dividers which I am sure was used to separate the owner's"special" items. On the right, you will see the slide out hanger bar equipped with the original wooden hangers. On the bottom, right behind the hanging area, you will find four shoe pockets. Interior material is intact! Drawers open and close and hanger slides out with ease. The outside of trunk is in a little rougher condition. But I have chosen not to refinish due to the age and original beauty. Vintage Wood Trunk White Star Line
Rare Vintage Trunk with some Very Interesting Impressions. It is Stamped White Star which I assume means it was used on a White Star Ship. It is Painted and has several flowers painted on it as well. The Patina is very old and looks to be done when the box was made or very shortly after. It is stamped with several words I cant decipher with the exception of"White Star" and the Lot Number. There are some worm holes in the bottom but the chest is very sturdy and in excellent working order. The clasps are tight and easy to use. They are in their original un-cleaned conditions. I could not see any inscriptions. Although there might be under the rust. They are approximately 4 1/2" long and 2" wide. The catches on the left weigh approximately 1 1/4 ounce; the catches on the right are a lighter 1 ounce. These are wonderful old. Original trunk parts. For your consideration is an Antique Aviator by Wheary Suitcase from the 1930s with initials! The suitcase is a nice old find. I cant find another like it. From a little research I've found that this brand is from the early 1930s. The case is in great shape for its age. The handle is in tact but only one lock fastens completelty(Original Key Included but does not seem to function) The bottom four corners are covered by thick leather. Normal wear for its age. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! There is also a second patent sate impressed into leather on the back of the trunk, it reads: PATENTED MAY 24, 1910 800 WARRANTED GENUINE COWHIDE 200(see pic included of back of trunk) This luggage suitcase is circa 1921 with the last patent date being the approximate date of manufacture, this old antique trunk is genuine'cowhide' leather as is stated on back, it has a leather handle which has plenty ... moreof wear as does the trunk-there are worn through areas of leather and leather loss, there is significant wear and abrasion to edges and surfaces and some holes in the leather along with some loose stitches and a few loose undone seams(see close-up pic of an example provided for your close inspection) overall the trunk has held up and is held together rather well, it is well-made with reinforced leather double stitched corners and corner pads(see pics) handle is worn at ring-mount holes(see pics) but is held on securely, there is brass hardware and brass latches on front, there is no key, the front button opens the case when pushed in well, the case closes securely but the left corner latch leaves a slight looseness to this section although suitcase is closed, there is a musty odor to luggage trunk as it has been sitting vacant in a closet for over 50 years and is almost 100 years old-it could use a good airing in the open air, some of the reddish coloring of the leather rubs off from surface onto fingers when touched. "Everwear" vintage wardrobe steamer trunk Nice
I have a very nice vintage steamer trunk wardrobe. This has been used so there are a few things that would need fixed if it were ti be made perfect. I tried to take as many pics as possible to show you the trunk. It is beautiful and will make a great addition to your home or collection. I cannot locate keys. The handle is missing on the bottom and is attached to just one side in top. The other side will pull out and is not attached. Some minor water damage but nothing that destroys the integrity or durability. The bottom of trunk shows some wear from travel. Dark green and black with name in white lettering. Which created a beautiful example of how reclaimed barn wood continues to live on. The top still has the original saw markings from the saw mill which adds a beautiful touch to its originality. This auction features a lot of two vintage stacking/nesting suitcases in earth-tone colors of beige. Golden tan, brown, and sienna. Wonderful for stacking, storage, photography props, stage set use, etc. While these are not a set(different brands) their coloring is complimentary. They appear to be canvas and each has leather trim. The leather handles seem to be securely fastened. Both have a very distressed appearance, the smaller one with more condition issues. The larger suitcase is an Aero-Pak"Deluxe Modern Luggage" with silver-tone hardware and burgundy interior lining(measures 24" X 15" X 7" and the smaller case is a Belber with gold-tone hardware and brown lining(18" X 13" X 6" Please be aware that these are very distressed with damage to both the canvas body, leather trim, and scratching to hardware. ... moreSome areas of leather are missing and areas of canvas are torn. The smaller suitcase is coming apart on left front side of lid and wooden corner is exposed(see last photo) The lids close but need to be adjusted and seated to latch and unlatch. Here you are bidding on an"Antique Carpenters Handmade Work Chest/Trunk. This is a big heavy trunk that measures 37 1/2 inches wide X 23 1/2 inches deep X 23 inches high. It lifts opens to expose sliding drawers on different levels to storage spaces as you get closer to its bottom. The top starts off with 2 sliding drawers with lift open tops. Next there are another 2 sliding drawers of different widths, next level there are another 2 sliding drawers of different sizes and dividers and then there are 2 more sliding drawers of different sizes and dividers. As you reach the bottom you have three stand up dividers that seperate the bottom into three sections of different size spaces. All the drawers slide forward and back and all can be removed as well. These sliding drawers inside and divisions were for tools of all types as well as storage ... morefor chisels, planes, and saws. There are nice brass handles at either end and a lock mechanism in the front(key not included) This is quite an exquisite piece with a lot of history. All dove tailed and handmade and all levels of draws that slide with no hardware on them at all. It's really hard to believe the work that was put into making something like this. It's quite large and really is best lifted by two people- a piece of history that i can safely says dates to the mid 1850's. It is also in very good condition and has been well preserved. The previous owner of this trunk would have been 105 this year) It is a really cool looking trunk with the 5 drawers. The old hangars, the briefcase like drawer that slides in under the clothes, and what looks to be an ironing board that has paper covering it(we did not take it out- we left it undisturbed) We do not have keys, the big lock on the front was popped but looks to be okay. There is a sticker or two that say Belber(which is how we knew that much about it) We believe this is all original and it is in pretty good shape- it does have marks and wear due to use and age but it seems to be a very solid piece and would be awesome restored. The interior was covered in contact paper. I pulled it off exposing the original paper or what's left of it. The inside of the dome has reside from the contact paper. The leather straps are broken. There isn't a key. Trunk has a wonderful patina showcasing its age. This is a very nice Lane Cedar chest from the 1930s possibly 40s. It is all original and is art deco period. It has a rounded top with waterfall desighn. And has matching book end design. The exterior wood is tiger maple i believe, though i have seen others listed as blonde mahogony in classic heringbone design.so not 100% sure. The manufacterers label says 70% cedar. Has original finish with original lock with Lane logos, easures 46" wide- 19" front to back and is 23" tall. See pictures for more info and condition. ANTIQUE METAL BARREL STAVE DOME TOP TRUNK WITH WOOD SLATS(591.100) With Measurements: 30.5"w x 17 3/4"d x 23"h Dome Top Trunks 1870-1920 Built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. over ... morethe top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use and travel.
