1920's Vintage FRENCH Vellum LEATHER TRUNK Travel Steamer TRUNK Surete Lock
This beautiful French Vellum Trunk. With its incredible character and elegance, sailed on the Queen Elizabeth from New York to an unknown destination. Measuring 35" long, 20 1/2" wide, and 13 1/2" deep, the exterior has the original solid wood banding and polished chrome latches and hardware. Engraved on the lock is the word"Surete" which is french for"security" Its edges are protected with original rawhide trim secured by silver nail heads. There is a wonderful original vintage tag from the Cunard Line and an old travel decal. Circa 1920's. This French Trunk is in good condition with minimal wear from age and use. The interior has 2 working cloth straps and is clean with no issues or musty smell. The trunk has the original leather handles, but one has a split in part of the leather. This is an awesome ... morepiece and would make a spectacular coffee table! Perfect addition to any vintage room decor! The Perrier bottle shows the nice large size of this trunk. There is some wear to the exterior paper covering on the box(see photos) There is a crack in the wooden back of the box underneath the hinged lid, but the lid is still very securely fastened to the box. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! I will ship this trunk via Greyhound package express to the closest Greyhound terminal of the winning bidder where it will have to be picked up. They will hold the piece for two days for free. This is a really neat heavy cast metal lock/latch which I believe came off a very old steamer trunk of sorts. It's in good used vintage condition with some surface wear and tarnish and I believe a tiny crack by the bottom bolt that you can't see from the front and doesn't seem to affect its use whatsoever.please view pictures for any further description/condition. The latches both work but sometimes you need to use a bit of muscle to open them as they stick a bit. The inside mechanism for the lock is missing. The bottom of the trunk has some deeper scratches then the rest of the trunk. There are minor scratches through out the trunk as well as shown. Some hardware pieces show ... moresome rust. Overall this is in good condition and has a great unique pattern that you will not come across again anytime soon nor will anyone you know have anything similar. This trunk has been part of my family since I can remember. I believe that my father had it in the early 1930's but can't verify that. It could be older or newer. It measures 23" high. 19"wide and 34" long. The trunk is made of some type of metal with wooden stays. It has decorative tin type on the top and front. The lock has no key. It reads- Yale& Towne Mfg. Co/ shamrock around the keyhole with Y& T/ Stanford Conn. U.S.A. AB The round top has 5 wooden stays. 4 on the front and back and 3 on the bottom. The rollers are in working condition. The inside has no tray or decorations. As you can see. The inside of the top has some crayon marks(probably from my sister! a small crack by the hinge, and two strips of duct tape on the bottom that can easily be removed. This trunk has been moved to a lot of different houses ... morein its lifetime and is still in very good condition for its age. Vintage Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Excelsior Lock Early 1900's Original w/ Hangers
For Sale is a Wonderful Vintage Wardrobe Trunk from the Early 1900's. It is all original. There are 3 drawers on the right hand side to hold folded clothes. The left side is for hanging clothes. Included are 4 original wood hangers. 2 can hold pants plus a top/jacket/shirt/blouse/etc. and 2 are just for tops/shirts/dresses etc. There is also an adjustable bar that helps hold in the hanging clothes. Everything is original from the floral interior to the hardware and two leather handles. There is no key but keys are still available and can be purchased on the web. The lock is an Excelsior brand which dates the trunk to the early 1900's. Stamped on the lock is"USA. Excelsior Stanford, Conn#5987. The lock was loosened from one side of the trunk to allow it to be opened by a previous owner. It is, however, all there. The latches work ... moreand hold the trunk closed. One is a little hard to open. I sometimes use a screw driver to pop it open. This trunk stands 36 1/2 inches tall. Is 22 inches deep and 14 inches wide. The exterior is a forest green color with black trim on the corners and white pin stripes. The floral interior is green and peach colored. It does show signs of use. There is some staining on the drawers, and the hardware, probably brass plated, has age discoloration and/or oxidation. Kind of gives it character. There are many uses for trunks like this from being a guest room dresser to a coffee table. It could be refurbished or enjoyed as it is. The pictures show what you are bidding on.
