So when they laid over the veneer on this ribbing, over the years, as the veneer shrunk, compared to the underlining supports, both on the sides(some veneer cracks) and on the drawer fronts, it's underlying barrel rib features come to the surface and are being nicely expressed. Early 20th c. the rouge breche d'Alpes marble over two frieze drawers, above two long drawers, with gilt bronze handles and escutcheons, flanked by ormolu female bust mounted stiles to cabriole legs, joined by an ormolu mounted skirt. H. 35 in. W. 48 in. D. 21 1/2 in. Chest is in very good condition. Marble has no chips, One small missing piece of veneer is missing and has been patched. No other missing or chipped chipped veneer.
