Many layers of paint were stripped and the urn was polished with a wire brush. It’s thick and heavy cast iron with fine details and it is still in perfect condition. No chips, no cracks. However, from over 200 years of use since the metal inside was pretty much rusted it shows deep cavities, which will not be noticeable ... morewhen the urn is filled with dirt. It is a planting urn because it has a drain, therefore your plants will not drown and can feel comfortable in this urn for many years. This urn comes apart into two parts. It measures 7 1/4 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches wide. This has an interesting organic design covering the exterior of it. This is in very good condition for its age. There are a few small nibbles on some edges but they are very minor and do not detract from this piece so bid with confidence. There is also some light film and use marks which just add to its look. A vintage well worn Workman’s Dome Topped Metal Lunch Box w/ Hinges from the 1940’s to early 1950. This particular lunch box shows quite a bit of rust on the base and some rust and scratching on the interior. So you might not want to carry your lunch in it anymore, but due to the size and the open hinged top– It would make a great garden Planter– or herb pot holder for a kitchen. Beautiful Primitive Old Vintage Wrought Iron Window Box Planter Box Garden Box Who-hoo- went to my first auction of the summer- it was a farm estate auction literally right down the street from me. The former owners had lived there since he had gotten out of the military after enlisting during WWII. And her family had been on the property for generations before that. It’s all farm stuff- household, barn, outbuildings, property- many items from the 1800s and up. Lot of old iron, barn digs, primitives and pretties- I’m so excited to show them to you! Enjoy! Good news! If you are looking for a nice old iron window box with lots of rustic primitive charm- your search is over! What I have is an older vintage wrought iron wall mounting window box- isn't it great? Made of wrought iron. This oldee has seen some time outside, and has the BEST ... moreshabby rusty patina. You can see just peeks of the original white(like I'm showing in photo 14) but the peeks are few and far between- mostly just the rust covered iron. It's surface only- no sharp edges etc. You could paint it if you wanted to, but I love it just the way it is. This is a nice sized box- measuring 35 1/2" widest- from the outside of the decorative curled loops all around, 32 1/2" wide measuring from inside of the box, 9 7/8" deep(front to back) on the outside, 8 1/4" deep inside the box at the top, 7 3/4" deep inside the box at the bottom/floor of the box, 5 3/4" tall measuring from the bottom to the top of the curly loops, and 4 1/2" tall from the bottom to the frame that runs along the inside(onto which the curly loops are welded) It weighs 5 1/2 lbs. At the back, there's 3 up pointing triangles from which you mount the box. Perfect for you to line with moss and plant in, but large enough for you to put individual potted plants in too. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. I did find one of the vertical curly cues that has become unattached to the frame at the top only- but totally attached to the botto

Offered is an antique primitive repurposed garden planter which was originally from an old commercial grain elevator. Nice patina of rust and mossy buildup. Back is a thick rubber and scoops are a heavy metal. Perhaps steel. Measures 18 1/2 x 11 in. overall and each scoop is approximately 4 1/2 in. deep. Scoops will accommodate soil and plants. The trough is in very nice condition and has a drain hole in the bottom side, there was another drain hole in the bottom middle but has been plugged as seen in the pictures. We occasionally find more these but they are becoming quite scarce. Originally used on farms for feeding animals. The white showing on the outside is mineral deposits and it highlights the very pretty ornate design of leaves and small rectangles. Based on where this was purchased it is possible that this is hand thrown by a pottery expert at Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum.
