VTG INDUSTRIAL CAST IRON METAL FARM WHEEL STEAMPUNK GEAR - YARD ART GARDEN DECOR
Up for sale is one of these vintage cast iron/metal steampunk farm plow spiked gear wheels. These gear wheels are great for yard or garden decor. Wall displays and even repurposed in making furniture or steampunk creations. Each wheel is missing one spike and has very similar wear from age as the ones pictured. The wheels vary from 17 1/4" to 17 3/4" in diameter depending on the wear to the ends. The center hole has a diameter of 1 1/8" and the wheel is 3 7/8" wide. This auction is for three very old sets of plow tines. These old fella's time have come to an end in the plow field. But still have plenty of use to go in the way of art and deco. I have done no restoration to these items, just in case the customer wants this rustic look that can only be done by mother nature. These would make for a great deco piece in the lawn or garden. Actually anywhere, now that I think about it. Here in the Ozarks people use them for garden accent pieces and fence decor. These could be used in great industrial art pieces, coat racks and tack hangers in the barn or garden. I have found no cracks or breaks in the tines. They are in surprisingly very good shape despite their age. I can not find any identifying maker's marks on this item without removing the patena. Antique Forged Iron Farm Garden Row Stake Pole Tool Plant Rope Guide primitive I believe these are antique garden stakes or poles used to make straight planting rows in the garden. The forged iron stakes were used by a real English gardener on a wealthy estate in New Jersey during approx. 1940s-60s. The estate featured a farm and employed a blacksmith for decades. Therefore most likely these were forged on the farm at some point. Both stakes feature a spear at the bottom, one having an"eye" at the top and the other a"grid" to wrap the rope around- the grid is free to spin around, making winding up the rope easy. The simple stake measures 26" long and the larger one measures 28" long. The rope may be original, however I'm not certain. Great antique/vintage metal bucket with awesome blue paint. Wonderful patina with rust. Scuffs, marks, etc typical of age and use. Measures 8 7/8" tall x 5 3/4" at bottom and 6 3/4" at top. There are four tiny pinholes are edge of bottom, so this could not hold water. There are two seams on this bucket that run from top to bottom. Top edge is rolled/folded over. There is a round opening on one side near top(about 1/4" around) making me wonder if this was possibly use to hang on a tree and collect sap?
