This is a vintage Brass. Bronze and Cast Iron Kama with a few utensils and ceramic parts included. If you know more about this item's age and origin could you please share. I've included a picture of all identifying marks and also the box which it came in. If you can translate the box or identifying marks into English for us please share. I only know that this came from the estate of a Japanese woman and was in storage since the late 70's. There is some light rust spots on the interior surfaces of the cast iron pot but otherwise it is in excellent condition. Only slightly used if any. Japanese Meiji Antique Bronze Cast Iron Furogama Chagama Tea Ceremony Kettle
Antique Furogama/Chagama from the late Meiji period. The teapot portion is made of cast iron while the bottom is made of bronze. This is a very whimsical and rather usual piece from my person collection. I bought this piece from Japan years ago, it is in excellent shape with no visible dents, chips or cracks that I can see. I am not a Japanese antique expert so please do look at the pictures very carefully, it does have some very nice details and it would make a great center piece within any Asian style interior spaces. JAPANESE TEA CEREMONY TETSUBIN CAST IRON TEAPOT RELIEF MOUNTAIN VILLAGE SCENE
I have only seen a couple of these in my long lifetime. But this is the nicest I have ever seen. I know you hear all the time that the photos do not do the item justice, but in this case that is definitely true. This is a very heavy relief of over 1 1/4" deep in some areas. The scene depicts a mountain village with bridges and buildings on a mountain side. The condition is wonderful with no damage other than considerable rust on the inside. It was keep clean using a process similar to what you would use on your cast iron skillet. It has not been painted. Stands about 9" to the top of the swing handle and measures about 9" from the back to the tip of the spout. There are Japanese characters on the inside of the lid.
