Vintage 19 piece Japanese Satsuma Dragon Tea Set Pot Teapot Geisha Girl 1930s ?
Here is a great vintage 19 piece Satsuma Japanese tea set. The main color is blue with hand painted dragons. If you hold the tea cups up to the light you can see a Geisha Girl. The plates measure 7 inches. The saucers 5.5 inches, the tea cups are 2.25 inches high by 3.75 inches wide. The tea pot measures 7.5 inches high and the cream and sugar pots both measure 6.5 inches high. This is a very nice set and looks to be missing two tea cups. One cup has a small chip on the inside rim. One of the saucer plates has something on the edge. Not sure what but I took a pic of it. Some edges feel rough but I think it's mostly just the china itself and the feel of the paint. I believe this to be from the 1930's. This set belonged to my great grandmother. Posted with

The accenting is a gorgeous deep redish brown. The set has 23 pices which include the lids as well. It includes a teapot. Large covered cream pitcher, large covered sugar bowl, 6 luncheon plates, 6 saucers ... moreand 5 Geisha lithopane cups. The plates measure 7 7/8" wide3, the saucers measure 5 1/2" The cups measure 3 7/8" wide and 2 1/8" tall. The cups have the beaded moriage design on the handle and a picture of a Geisha woman in the bottom of the cup which can be seen when held up to the light. The plates, cups and saucers have wonderful gold dragons with green and redish brown accent. The large cream pitcher measures about 6 1/2" tall to the top of the dragon's head and about 7 1/2" wide from the dragon's mouth spount to the moriage handle. The sugar bowl measures about 6 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide handle to handle. The teapot measures about 8 1/2" tall and about 10" wide from dragon's mouth to handle edge. They are marked with a printed Japan stamp on the base. I believe these date to the mid 1940's. The set is in very good condition. I see no chips or cracks. There is some wear on the gold on the cup rims but thisis quite minor. This is a wonderful old Moriage Dragonware set. You are bidding on this beautiful antique late 19 th century hand painted gorgeous Japanese Satsuma dragon design tea set which includes a tea pot. Creamer, sugar bowl, 6 plates and 6 cups and saucers. It is a fantastic work of art and it is in excellent condition. There are no chips or repairs, there‘s a few bums missing from the creamer handle. The tea pot size is 71/2” high and 9 1/4” from handle to spout. The sugar bowl 6 1/2” high and 7 1/2” from handle to handle. There is a Coffee Pot that measures 8" tall. 8 1/2" across from tip of spout to end of handle and 4 1/2" wide at the widest point. A Tea Pot that measures 6 1/2" tall, 6 1/2" across from tip of spout to end of handle and 4" wide at the widest point. A sugar bowl that is 6 1/2" tall, 7" across to the end of each handle and 4 1/4" wide at the widest point. There are 5 sandwich plates that measure 7 1/2" across. This nice Dragon Ware set came from my husband’s grandparent’s estate. Admittedly I know little about its history/brand. Except for similar items I’ve seen described, so I will borrow from their description. PLEASE let the photos speak for themselves. It looks to be mid-century with a Satsuma theme. I believe it to be hand painted as others I’ve seen although resemble the pattern. Are distinct in each detail. Such is the case with this nice set. It includes a lovely tea(or coffee) pot, covered sugar, creamer and four demitasse cups. Its overall color pattern is muted browns/rusts with gold highlights. Being a set of 20 pieces, counting the 3 lids, of an early to mid century designed coffee/ tea service from Japan. This set is probably pre-war, and is not marked for export, having only Japanese markings, which appear on the bottoms of the pieces. The main set of 20 pieces is practically flawless, given that some of the gold trim is rubbed thin in spots, like where handling ... morewould take place, the lid handles, etc. Basically, the gold and paints and enamels are entirely intact and the pieces show very little if any use(other than the rubbing) There are 3 cups, 5 saucers, 6 plates,tea/coffee pot/covered sugar, covered creamer in the main set, with a salt and pepper and a small utility vase/condiment/toothpick chosen to match but of slightly different pattern, making 23 pieces in all being offered. One photo shows the exception to the"practically flawless" description, showing that one lid(the sugar's) has been shattered and reglued, and one cup has 2"chigger" or"flea" dings on the lip, both actually about as big as a flea. One is near the point of the lid and the other across the cup, both on the rim. The reglue is strong and tight but not all smooth and the flaw lines are visably, primarily on the inside, from the outside practically unseen from 2 feet away. The cups have the desirable geisha picture within the porcelain, the LITHOPANE effect.
