This beautiful Antique Japanese SATSUMA Teapot is in excellent original condition dates to early Meiji Period. 1868-1912. The piece is completely hand painted and stands on little tripod legs. It also h as an ORIGINAL bamboo handle in great condition. Its fine Moriage decoration depicts Buddhist KANNON. Goddess of Mercy, and Lotus flowers. All highlighted in gold. Vintage - Antique Miniature Golden Satsuma Teapot
Up for Your Consideration is a Miniature Satsuma Teapot. The teapot measures 2 5/8th inches long. 2 7/16th inches wide and a height without handle 1 ½ tall from base to finial on the lid. The handle is wrapped in a very fine wood, and is attached to the teapot by small wires. It is mainly gold in color with an array of various color within the fine lines of the gold paint. The outside design features geisha's girls and two warriors. Guards, or men. The bottom has the original tags and signed with gold writing on a brownish-maroon color. Also as you can see on the bottom. It is three footed with three a gold scrolled design between the feet. I know very little about any type Chinese and Japanese decorative or fine arts. I do not know who or what company made this beautiful miniature piece or known it age or era. The only exception that I find worth noting is it has either a crackled finish or it is crazed all over without stains. Also the interior has dust and some discoloration. Antique Hand Painted Japanese Satsuma Cherry Blossum Miniature Teapot Mini Sake
Antique Hand Painted Japanese Satsuma Miniature Teapot I purchased it from an professional antique auctioneer/ appraiser who said it was authentic and from the 18th century- perhaps the Meiji Period. It's intricately and masterfully hand painted with a hand painted mark on the bottom that I can't read- perhaps someone can tell me what it says. It's a Cherry Blossum theme with gold piping typical of these pots. It is a miniature pot measuring just over 3 inches in diameter. About 1.5 inches to the top of the lid, and about 3.5 inches to the top of the handle. Really nice shape overall. One small chip on the inside of the lid(see close up pic) and I think that the handle might be a reproduction but I'm not sure.
