Here we have one pre-owned antique Japanese Cast Iron ceremonial tea kettle. Kettle is signed and has a design of birds and ocean waves with line pattern on lid and top edge of kettle. Kettle has some heavy and light rust on the inside. Kettle was heavily covered in grease and I cleaned it the best I could so there might be a bit where handle meets kettle. Age chunks missing from lid knob, regular aging to cast metal on outside, with some light rust spots under side of lid of pot. Holds water. Circa 1900s. It is quite rare to find a tetsubin with the original trivet.The handle is beautifully decorated with gold and silver inlay. The bottom of the cover is signed by the artist. Please refer to the photographs below for more details. Measurements: The teapot measures approximately 10" high(with handle up) by 8 ¼" wide from one end to the tip of the spout and weighs 2.96 kg. The trivet measures 3 ½" high by 6 ⅞" wide and weighs 854 grams. Rust has eaten two small holes in the bottom and eaten some of the rim of the lid but isn't visible on display and doesn't take away from the beauty of the teapot.
