Antique Japanese Teapot Figural Quail Enamel Banko Ware Rare Fly Finial Japan
Extremely Rare Enamel and stunning one of a kind Japanese Banko Ware Figural Teapot with vine handle. This teapot has the truly unique Fly as the finial for the lid of the pot. This Quail looks to be in excellent condition. I only see a slight indentation(see beak on 1st and 4th picture) on the top of the beak from the left side that blends so well you can't really see it. It does not feel sharp to your hand and almost looks like it was made that way. The Quail is a light brown color on his wings and top of his head. The lower part of the body is a crème color. The first picture shows how gorgeous the enamel floral painting of a white lily and 2 red unopened buds. The artist also added some pretty green leaves and painted the leaves rising up from the back and folding over either side of the teapot opening. The leaves rise up so ... morethat the vine holder could be attached on both sides. The opposite side also has 2 vines with a red and white unopened bud on each end. This is stamped Japan on the bottom and has 3 soft pads to protect it against scratches. The height is approximately 4 1/2" high and 6" long from the back to the front. The very circular bottom with the pads is about 3" wide. The vine is note wrapped all the way around with the smaller vine- see picture. Antique Japanese Banko-Yaki Blue Kyogen Mask Teapot with Rattan Handle
This antique Kyogen Mask teapot is decorated with the Japanese theatre masks Hyottoko. Okame, Tengu, and Kabuki. Although many are unsigned, these kyogen teapots were produced in the second half of the 19th century at the Banku-Yaki pottery in the province of Ise(today Mie Prefecture) It is mostly white and is decorated with light blue border patterns making it known as a"Blue Kyogen Theatre Mask Teapot. On the bottom can be found the thumb prints of the potter. The teapot is in excellent condition except for a minor chip on the spout and on the lid. The rattan handle appears to be original but partially unwrapped and should be restored. It measures 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" high.

This beautiful teapot was sent back form occupied Japan in 1945 and only displayed and never used. The elephant stands 6" high.8" long and 4 1/4" wide. I have seen this teapot on various sites selling up to $600. There is no chips, cracks or crackle glaze. The tip of the trunk has a little gold trim loss. The bamboo handle was lost in house moving many years ago. Thanks for looking.

Antique Vintage Japanese Banko Marble Tapestry Creamer And Sugar - Tea Coffee
These were my mother's and I think her mother's before that. From doing research I figure they must be made around the early 1900's. I haven't been able to find a makers mark. So I have no idea who made them. I wasn't able to find a lot of them. But these with the slip clay and gold accents are some of the nicer ones I've seen. Most of them I saw are not done with slip clay. These are also more colorful than most I saw. The outside is like a rough texture and the inside is a shiny glaze. They are very thin and fragile feeling. The nob on the sugar bowl turns a little, it's called a knop or finial pivot. They are in like new condition like they were never used. The gold trim around the rims. I don't know if it's worn down, or was just lightly applied with kind of a hit and miss effect to just blend in. Where ... morethe cream would be poured it's not really worn down, so to me it gives the impression it was hit and miss when applied. Anyway, that would be the only place of any ware, or showing it's age if it is worn down. Approximate Measurements& Weight: Creamer Tall. 2 1/4" 2 3/4" At Spout) Width. 3 3/4" Weight. 2.95 oz. Sugar Tall. 2 1/2" 3 3/4" With Lid) Width. 3 3/4" Weight. 5.16 oz(Total With Lid) Researched Information: The different style of some Banko ware was achieved by using different types of clay. Which produced a“marble” or“tapestry” effect. Using different types of ground clay produced different colours: grey, chocolate, beige, chestnut, and white. Using different colours of ground clay not only helped to construct the marble or tapestry effect, but it also learnt varying colours to the decorations placed on tea pots and the other items that were produced. Wedging. Folding and combining the clay in thin layers prepared the clays. The skilled potter then rolled and sliced the clay into different shapes. Once fit together, the clay formed a thin wall of various colours and patterns.

For sale is a nice older Japanese carved scenic Banko Ware teapot. This piece appears to be in nice antique. Or vintage, shape. Free of cracks, breaks, significant damage, etc. Teapot is also signed in Japanese, but I cannot read Japanese so I am not sure what it says. Ceramic material looks to be clay. This piece measures 5" wide to the end of the handle. 4" wide to the end of the spout, and 3" tall to the top of the lid. Please note that I am not an expert when it comes to pieces like this so it could be vintage rather than antique, but it appears to be pretty old, and came from an estate that had many Japanese/ Asian antiques. c1850 Antique Japanese Banko 6 sided Teapot Enamel Butterflies Bamboo Handle
Offered for your consideration is a hard to find Antique Japanese Teapot. It measures 3 3/4" including the lid and almost 5" tall with the braided bamboo handle. It is signed Banko. There is a small card inside of the teapot with a date of c1850 written on it. Banko teapots are well known for their temperature retaining iron-rich clay. Functionality and being produced by highly experienced potters. Of all teapots in Japan, it is said that green tea brewed in a Banko teapot produces optimum results. I do not find any chips. There is a tight hairline repair on the lid that you can see in my pictures. This is a hard to find 6 sided teapot. There are a total of 5(five) butterflies. They are made of raised enamel. There is piercing on the top edge of the teapot. Some of the gold on the top of the lid, spout and on the top of the teapot ... moreis missing due to its age. Antique Japanese Banko Teapot Butterfly Grasshopper Bees Insects Enamel Flowers
Offered for your consideration gorgeous Antique Japanese Teapot. It measures 5 1/2" including the lid and 8 1/2" if you include the bamboo handle. It is signed on the bottom Banko. You will find beautiful insects on one side of the pot with raised enamel flowers and stems. On the other side there is a large grasshopper. He is made of enamel with raised enamel flowers and pedals behind him. To the right of him is a butterfly. The teapot itself looks almost like a head of cabbage. The lid has 2 insects made of raised enamel with raised enamel leaves and flowers. In my pictures you see a very light small discoloration in the material on the lid with a very tight hairline. Early 20th century Japan The figure's extended right arm forms a spout. The number 19 is located on the base. The top is missing the wrapped wire and reed overhead handle. But it could be easily replaced. The loops on each side are both in good condition and are ready for a new reed handle to pour the tea. The overall condition of this tea pot is very good. This is a very nice old teapot unusual to see two Asian boys climbing on the teapot. Believe this would be a harder to find type of teapot. Antique Japanese Teapot Enamel Cranes & Flowers Banko Ware
I believe this to be a Banko Ware antique Japanese teapot. Although I did not find it to be signed Banko. It has a braided bamboo handle and a ruffled top. The ruffled top. Spout, 3 button decorations around the spout and top of the lid are accented with gold. It is hand painted with 3 enameled cranes and 4 enameled yellow and blue flowers. There are also red painted flowers. The lid is nicely detailed. It measures approximately 3" to the top of the lid. 4.5" to the top of the handle and 2 1/4" to the top of the ruffled edge. From side to spout it is approximately 4" There is some damage to the handle. See pictures. There is some wear to the gold accents. See pictures. There a few small stains inside. See pictures.
