It is made of solid wood, and has a delicate inlay on the drawer fronts. The dresser has floral glass pulls on it that I am sure are not original to the dresser. They are very pretty, are larger in diameter, and are mostly in good condition but some of them have some chips, particularly towards the back where they are touching the wood. The dresser drawers used to have locks in them, but now only have holes in these areas. The dresser has dovetail joints that I believe are English dovetails.

The handle has to be the original leather covered one and the leather is not in good shape, but it certainly fits with the age of the chest. All of the latches, hinges and lock are complete and work fine, except for the missing key. For those of you who know more about this. I'm sure you can identify the brand from the drawer knobs and diamond shaped back plates on them. I'm sure it has been sanded and finished, probably at the time the leather was removed. The cabinet measures 19 inches high by 16 inches across and 8 inches deep. 48 by 40 by 20 cm) The cabinet has 4 wallpaper lined drawers. Each drawer has a brass escutcheon and two round wood pulls each with a brass star. The cabinet is mahogany with the top. Front and both sides covered in marquetry work. The marquetry work is at least 6 different woods including olive and fruit woods. The drawers are flanked by columns with fancy capitals and bases. The whole sits on 4 bun feet. As you can see by the photographs the cabinet is a really beautiful example of"proof" that an apprentice had achieved mastery of his cabinet making skills. The condition is also exceptional for it's age and virtually untouched as far as restorations or repairs. The drawers maintain their original wall paper interiors. Both has misc surface and paint chips/ marks from afe use and storage. Though the wear is noticeable it seems to add to the patina and looks of these pieces. None of the wear is anything major. The one piece of glass seems to have a small corner chips, but is unnoticeable when displayed. These are a really neat set of cool pieces of vintage furniture.
