Louis Lipsky, who supported the Keren Hayesod, became president, and the Z.O.A. grew numerically, politically, and financially. In 1924 a merger of the annual Zionist major fund-raising efforts created the United Palestine Appeal. After the outbreak of World War II in September 1939, the American Emergency Committee(Council after 1943) for Zionist Affairs(E.C.Z.A. began to function. Z.O.A. representatives on the E.C.Z.A. occupied the front rank in the political struggles and achievements of that period. During 1946–48, U.S. support for the Jewish state was achieved by the exertions of the mobilized Zionist forces, including the Z.O.A. leaders, especially Abba Hillel Silver and Emanuel Neumann.

The plate number is listed on the outside edge of the map. As well as on the backside of the paper. There is also a brief ... moredescription of what this map covers(see photo) There is a center fold line. The page was attached to a book by a linen strip(guard) which was sewn into the binding. This small linen strip is still attached to the backside of the map. Measures: 12-7/8 x 17" outside edge of paper) Untrimmed and suitable for framing. Condition: Unless otherwise noted. This map is in Very Good condition. The map is clean and bright. There is browning or oxidation of the paper on the outside 1/2" edge of the page all the way around the map. There is one small black paper mark that can be seen clearly on the backside and shows somewhat through to the frontside(see photo) This is part of the making of the paper. Paper is healthy. Still supple and crisp to the touch. You can see the engraving impressions on the backside of the map. No restoration work has been done. No structural flaws noted. Covers the entirety of Japan inclusive of Hokkaido and the Ryukyu Islands. Cartographically this map. Like most 18th century maps of Japan, harkens to the Ino Tadataka surveys of the 18th century, though this example does exhibit considerable revision. Even so, the influence of the Meiji Ishin or Meiji Restoration is evident in the form of the prefecture structure adopted in 1871. Stylistically, this map strays significantly from Edo period cartography prepared under the Tokugawa Shogunate, and, though issued early in the Meiji period, exhibits considerable western, particularly British, cartographic influence. One curious aspect of this ... moremap is that it appears unfinished. Various empty cartouches appear throughout the map but are empty and no specific area is textually identified. This unusual omission may stem from a politic decision to discontinue the map in anticipation of further revisions, or simply suggest that the completion of the map was interrupted for other, unknowable, reasons.
