So I went to a favorite antique mall that always has an awesome February sale. Picked up lots of antiques and unique items to list! I also continue to list new items from the farm estate auction, with lookouts more new hardware pieces over the next several weeks. Ya gotta love antique ironstone- and this beauty comes with its hard to find lid. Too! What I have is a white ironstone chamber pot- marked on the bottom with the double lion crest, Royal Patent Ironstone, and Tomkinson Bro& Co. this English piece will accent your collection or decoration beautifully. The base of the ... morepot measures 10 3/8" wide handle to end, 8 7/8" diameter at the top, and stands 5 3/4" tall. With the lid on, it measures 8" tall to the top of the handle. The pot is in excellent structrual condition, with some minor damage from wear and age(and I'm afraid to say.use! There's a very thin and hard to see hairline crack that runs from the top down 3 1/2" You can see it from the inside too- although only 2" of it on the inside. I'm showing you the outside view in photo 9, and the inside view in photo 18. The pot shows crazing all over, and some darkening due to the crazing toward the bottom of the pot, and some light carmel colored spots on the side, but no other issues, chips or cracks on the body. Turn it over, and you can see a couple of teenie nicks on the very rim of the bottom where it sits on the table/floor- so it has to be upside down to see and they may be original- see photos 19-23. If you look at photos 12-15, you will see that the underside of the lid has two very small shallow chips(photo 13 has a third that is more of a small scrape) One is on the inside rim, it's 1/8" and it's the largest. It has crazing associated with it's age(it's an antique) The pot has no real issues. The top has one chip which I've shown in a detailed photo. The pot itself is in really great shape and beyond the crazing only has a few pits on the bottom where it rests(Shown in the photos) It's not major, especially when you consider that this piece is well over a hundred years old. Especially for its age, which dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. There are no chips or cracks or stains or crazing or repairs in the bowl or the lid. The glaze is clear and white is white. Antique white chamber pot made in the late 1800's Very nice condition for its age! Bowl measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and 5 1/4 inches tall Handle extends out another 2 inches and is approx. 4 inches tall Marked ROYAL IRONSTONE CHINA with the stamp of the lion. Crown and unicorn, with CHARLES MEAKIN ENGLAND under it. This printed mark was used on the earliest pottery made at the Burslem Works location. From 1870 to 1882. There are a few expected minor anomalies inherent with hand-made pottery. The inside is quite clean. Close inspection reveals very minor scratches on the bottom from use over 130 years ago. The glazing on the exterior is very nice There are no chips on the top edge. As shown in the photos. There is a very small crack at the top right side of the handle that appears to have been glued, possibly prior to glazing. This ... moreis not very obvious to the eye when on display, and in my opinion it is a minor visual issue. I have tried to be as complete as possible in my description. This"potty from the past" is in great condition. With crazing, but no cracks. A couple small chips as shown on the bottom front edge, but do not detract its beauty. There is no lid with this but would look great with flowers. It is white ironstone with a lacy design. A graceful handle with no chips or cracks adds to the beauty. The little felt pads on the bottom, shown in the photos, keep it from scratching the hardwood floor. They can be easily removed. It doesn't look like it was ever used. Known History: This Chamber Pot was purchased used somewhere in Western Washington in the 1970's. And has been in our home for over 35 years. Condition: We can find no damage or defects. Which is remarkable because we used it for years to store an extra roll of toilet paper and I don't know how many times it got bumped or kicked against the cast iron bathtub. Antique Victorian Alfred Meakin England Royal Ironstone China Chamber Pot
This very nice Victorian chamber pot is an English classic as it was part of every home in England during the Victorian period and until modern sewage systems introduced the flush toiled around 1900. This pot may also have been brought to the US during this same period and used as well. It is made from Ironstone with a fine high gloss finish and has a beautiful transparency to it(pictured#1. 2, 4) The under glaze is white and the over glaze is very thick making it transparent looking. It has some vertical lines around it giving it style and a broad serif handle(pictured# 3) It has a raised, curled rim around the top as these pots were used to catch poddie and were usually kept in a wooden commode uncovered. Covered commodes were often much more ornate and sometimes painted with colored glazes and floral patterns these were kept outside of ... morea commode most often in the bedroom near wash stands. I am no expert but I believe this is what is called Flow Blue. The background is not a white but rather maybe a very light blue. A chamber pot was a bowl-shaped container with a handle kept in the bedroom under a bed or in the cabinet of a nightstand. Generally used as a urinal at night. In Victorian times, some chamber pots would be built into a cabinet with a closable cover. Most of the chamber pots were made in Britain and France from ironstone or porcelain. This charming white ironstone pot was made in Trent, England by Wood& Sons around 1910. The Royal Arms marking was used during that period of time on their ironstone pieces. In very good shape considering age and use. No chips or cracks. Very nice older wash stand with dark rich colored wood. Pitcher. Bowl and chamber pots are marked England 1890 IRONSTONE. They have a cobalt blue color. The pitcher and bowl are in good condition with no crazing or chips. The chamber pot has a handle that has been cracked and glued and a small chip on the outside. But not many sets have a chamber pot! The stand has little wear with a small crack on the area of the towel rack. Stand will be shipped by itself and dismantled. For its age it is a very nice set. Presented for your consideration this antique white ironstone chamber pot with lid. It has a simple ornate design on the top and side handles and a simple panel motif around the outside. It was made in England by Alfred Meakin as part of the Royal Ironstone Pottery line. It measures 7-1/4" tall including the lid and 10-1/2" across including the handle. It is 9-1/2" in diameter, not including the handle. It is in excellent antique condition, no cracks, chips or repairs. J & G Meakin Antique Ironstone Chamber Pot w/ ACORN Finial in Mint Condition
This is a wonderful antique ironstone chamber pot by the J& G Meakin Co. Great acorn finial on lid. In wonderful vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or hairlines. Even handle is mint. There are a few very small spots that can be seen in photos. And a little discoloration also as shown. So often these come broken. So this is in remarkable condition. Found in a North Shore estate sale, in the attic of a wonderful antique house. Bottom is about 4 5/8" tall. 8 5/8" wide without handle and 10" including handle. About 7 5/8" tall with lid on. We have here an Early RARE Flow Blue Flowers Vase Child's Chamber Pot. It measures 6 1/8" around. 3" tall. It has one handle. Overall moderate tight crazing. Except for inside of bowl. The flow blue pattern is of a vase with flowers. The inside of the bowl has a flower cluster. No stamps on bottom. But it does have an indent, JAPAN, I couldn't get a good photo of it. This listing is for an Antique. Johnson Brothers England, Ironstone Chamber Pot with Handle. The pot features four embossed leaves rising up from the base and a leaf motif at the handle. The foot is scalloped. The bottom is marked"Royal Ironstone China, Johnson Bros, England" with the Royal Arms. The trademark was used from 1893 through 1913. The bowl measure 5" high. 8 3/4" in diamenter and weighs 3 lbs 5.7 oz. The piece is chip. Crack, crazing. fleabite and repair free. The interior bottom has some light marks from use and storage, but none notable without inspection. The foot has light wear. Beautiful antique white chamber pot lid only. China or ironstone-not for sure. Color is not a bright white but an off-white or grayish white. Beautiful design resembles Fleur de lis. No chips or cracks. Top is rough to the touch with these cool imperfections. Overall diameter is 9 3/4" Inside lip diameter is 7 7/8" It slants some so should fit a pot with an 8 1/4" opening.
