Condition is Excellent within the image, edges have light toning, occasional foxing spots, most maps still have the paper hinge attached on the back, and several old creases at the bottom corners, otherwise no issues. Back in the day we used words like patina, aged and original to describe beautiful things that had some wear. Today we use words like, rugged, shabby chic and re-purposed. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ █►Ok. As you can see in my dozen photos, this old Standard Atlas has some condition issues! Still, it is an incredibly Rare find and a MUST HAVE if you are interested in this area or doing research on any of it's occupants or history. The front cover is included but not affixed. Back cover is missing. Binding is poor to say the least. I think a pair of pages is probably missing that would be the publishers information so the book starts with a table of contents. I believe everything is present from there forward. There is staining and tears and lots of bad corners but no mildew and no presently or previously stuck pages. Just wonderful old maps and portrait pages and pioneer stories and all the stuff these old Atlases contain. The only reference to a publication date that I can find in the ... moreactual atlas is that the United States map shows a publication date of 1903 so the Atlas can't be older than that. I do not find any dates after that except on some newpaper clippings that are scattered about the book by a previous owner. These are mostly weddings and funerals. One clipping is about the blizzard in Comstock Feb 1936. Towns covered in the atlas include Anselmo. Antique 1919 Adams County Nebraska Atlas Plat Farm Map Book Directory
For sale is an antique atlas of Adams County. Nebraska from 1919. Published by The Anderson Publishing Co. Mason City, Iowa. It contains maps of the Townships of the County, State of Nebraska, the World and U.S. Survey map. The maps are still very colorful and writing is bold. Pages do have discoloration/stains and wear around edges. Some pages have tears. The first few pages are attached to spine and front cover and most of the rest of the pages are loose from spine, but stapled together. The last few pages are loose. I am trying to show the worst pages in pictures. There are a few pencil/pen marks throughout the book. Some of the pages have a water stain mark on them- see pictures. I will try to describe some of the worst pages: Adams Co(and some of following pages) Top left corner looks like something has"chewed" on it. Verona- ... moredirty and small tear middle on bottom of page. Wanda- a couple of tears. One is toward bottom left and up into the map and other is toward bottom right corner.
