Wapello County. Iowa Soil Survey and Map Iowa Agricultural Experiment Station Book. 1919 Map. 1917 CONDITION: The book is in good condition with no writing or tears. The cover has come loose at the first staple. But it is only the cover and does not include any pages. There is wear to the edges and the upper left and lower right corner are slightly creased. There is age related yellowing. The map measures 30 1/4" x 21 1/2" There are a no pencil notations on the map. There is age related yellowing, but the colors remain bright. Cellophane tape was used to repair a tear approximately 5" in length where the map is attached to the back cover of the book. Otherwise there are a few holes where the fold creases intersect. Original Bureau of Soils report with large-format fold-out map of Appanoose County, printed more than 85 years ago. The booklet measures 9" x 6" and has 34 pages. It is titled Soil Survey of Appanoose County. Iowa, by C.L. Orben and W.W. Strike. Tipped-in at the rear is a fold-out map which opens to 25" x 28-1/2" The map is drawn on a scale of one inch to one mile. Worth County. Iowa Soil Survey Map 1922 19 3/4" x 30" CONDITION: The colors are bright. There are no pencil or other markings within the map. One corner is creased. There are two tears in the fold lines. One at the top margin which is 2 1/2" in length and the other 1/4" in length along the bottom margin. Otherwise, there are two tears not in a fold crease, both of which are 1/4" in length. I find no other defects. I am not an expert. And have described this item to the best of my abilities.
