This is an antique/vintage porcelain enamelware chamber pot(or"thunder bucket" as they called them up north) With subtly ribbed sides, a wire bail handle with a wooden grip, a lid, and trimmed overall in red enamel on the handle"ears" the lid handle, and the lid and base rims. It's a beauty.if such things can be called beautiful. It was certainly necessary and practical in its day. A nice piece of nostalgia, that makes you glad to live in modern times! Unsure of maker. From the early 1930s. Has some chips; a large one on the lid. And minor ones around the rim. Minor chips around the rim of the base, as well as several larger ones. Antique 19th Century Decorated Porcelain Chamber Pot with Lid
Antique Porcelain 19th Century Commode From the estate of a collector. This is a nicely decorated porcelain chamber pot with a lid. White glaze with yellow, there is a nice old crackle finish on the glaze. The lid has a beaded and scalloped edge with a fancy applied handle. The bottom sits on a pedestal form that also has a scalloped base, and there is a handle in the back. No chips or cracks, in very nice antique condition. It is marked on the bottom in blue writing, but I am not sure of the name. Maybe someone out there is familiar with the marking. Chamber pot measures 8" across the top opening. 11" across with the back handle, and is about 7" tall to the top of the handle lid. Very nice. Pretty, antique Chamber Pot. Pottery Stoneware Porcelain Chamber Pot with Lid Marked Virginia
This is a vintage pottery. Porcelain or stoneware chamber pot with lid. It measures, not including the lid, 5 1/2" tall by about 8 1/4" in diameter across the top and 10" overall at the longest point including the handle. This is made of a heavy pottery substance and the unglazed bottom rim is white like porcelain material. It has an overall pattern molded around the lower part of the pot of a sort of interlocking scallop. The lid has acanthus leaves around the rim edge and the same interlocking scallop design as the lower part of the pot. The handle is molded to look and feel almost like a bent stick or tree limb. There are some small bubbles that have popped in the glaze during the firing process, see photo 7. There are also visible stilt marks on the inside of the chamber pot from the stilts used in the kiln to keep it off ... morethe bottom of the kiln. There is overall tight crazing. There is one deep cut near the rim. This does not go through to the inside, see photo 6 and a drop of white paint to the upper left of that in the same photo. There is a black touch mark under the clear glaze on the outside of the pot where someone had a smudge on a finger touched it and then put it in the kiln. It is inside the outer handle. It is signed in sepia colored paint"Virginia" on the underside bottom. I date this from the early 1800's to 1899 because of the mark being signed only"VIRGINIA" and could possibly date to the civil war period. Please zoom in and look at all the photos closely. The underside of the lid rim has an excess piece of clay that is glazed over and fired on. See photos 9& 10. This is a listing for an Alfred Meakin Royal Ironstone chamber pot with its lid. It dates from 1881-97. Based on the pottery mark. The handle of the lid is a flower and leaf design. This design repeats on the handle of the pot. The pot and its lid are in excellent condition with just a few issues. There is a crack starting at the top part of the handle where it attaches to the pot. There is a spot on the handle of the lid where the glaze is missing. I believe it chipped off likely because of an air bubble underneath it. There is one small glaze pit on the rim of the lid. The outside of the pot has a small amount of scuffing. The interior has some minor scratching and wear to the glaze on the bottom of the pot. Please study the pictures for details. This is a listing for an Enoch Wedgwood& Co. Royalstone ironstone chamber pot with its lid. It dates from 1860-90. Based on the pottery mark. Enoch was the cousin of Josiah Wedgwood. The pot and its lid are in very good condition for their age. The lid has had three chip repairs at its rim, and one of the repairs has a crack leading from it(about 1/2" to the inner rim of the lid on its underside, and about 1 1/4" un the lid on the outside) The base is free of chips and cracks. It has some minor scratching and is in remarkable shape. There is a slight amount of scuffing on the exterior of the pot. AUTHENTIC CHAMBER POT JH WEATHERBY & SONS ENGLAND CIRCA 1900 w/o LID
The J.H. Weatherby& Sons(Ltd) A family-run company was founded in Tunstall in 1891 and moved to Hanley the following year. Named'Falcon Pottery' it was the base for their manufacturing and trading of earthenware, and was one of a number of similar potteries in Stoke on-Trent. It first made domestic ware such as printed toilet sets. Trinket sets, vases, teapots, tableware and tableware fancies, jugs, fern pots and lidded chamber pots. Soon after World War I, Weatherby began to supply advertising ware to hotels and caterers and later to hospitals and institutions. In the 1920s and 1930s it experimented with modernist matt glazes and introduced Art Deco-style vases, tableware and fancies. The manufacturer's"DURABILITY" mark on the bottom tells us this particular chamber pot was made after 1892 in Hanley. England. This ... morestamp was used from 1892-1924, but the introduction of indoor toilets gradually replaced chamber pots. There is a hairline crack from the rim about half way down into the vessel. This crack hasn't expanded. And as long as the buyer doesn't plan on using it for its original intended purpose, this shouldn't be a problem. The inside bottom is pitted and the glazing shows its true age. It really is remarkable that items as fragile as this have survived more than 100 years. This pot has no lid. But chamber pot lids seem to be a collectible, and currently there are many available on ebay that might fit this pot. I've taken photos of the handle to show that is has not been repaired or replaced. I displayed this for several years in a guest room that was also decorated in turn of the century Victorian. Guests and friends were intrigued. As few among us can say they have actually seen an authentic chamber pot.

I retired in mid-2009 with the objective of clearing my house of excess in short order. A goal at which I have failed miserably. I am trying to get back on board. I have finally convinced family and friends to stop bringing stuff for me to sell as I have enough already! If you buy this 136 year old chamber pot no one will ever be able to clain you don't have a pot to p* in. Enoch Wedgwood was a distant cousin of Josiah Wedgwood. He founded his pottery in 1860 and it continued into the 20th century intil being absorbed into the Wedgwood Group. The pot stands 8-1/2" with lid and is about 10-1/2" long. The bowl is 8-1/2" One small inderglaze chip on the foot of the pot. A scratch on the lid and crazing to the glaze. The Wedgwood& Co. Royal Stone China stamp is on the bottom as is a British registry mark for 1877. Inside ... moreand out you can see 3 equidistant stilt marks from when the glaze was applied. Red highlights on the handle attachments and a solid red lid(very unusual) with original metal and wood handle. The pot measures 8" high and 9.5" wide. The base decoration has some fading. The lid is brighter in color probably as the base was washed frequently and the lid was not! Also, the underside of the lid has some discoloration on one side that you can see in the picture. The base and lid measure 8 1/2" in diameter; 10 1/4" including the handle. It stands 8" tall. This is a beautiful old porcelain chamber pot found in Sweden. It is very unique and heavy with a beautiful blue flower design. The colors and shape of the handles are reminiscent of the Gustavian period in Sweden. It is unmarked. In excellent condition, would look beautiful in any part of the house. We estimate it's age to be mid-late 1800's. Measures 6" high by 12" across from handle by 9 1/2" in diameter at the top by 6" in diameter at the base. Up for auction is a beautifully preserved early 1900s ceramic chamber pot with the Knowles. Taylor& Knowles maker mark on the base. This has been in our family for four generations, and we are now cleaning and downsizing some of our heirlooms. The base has a tri-scalloped pattern, and the handly of the lid is crown-shaped. There is a superficial crack that runs 3/4 of the length of the thick lid. But it doesn't go completely through the lid-it is a surface crackle only. Antique Chamber Pot& Lid(may not be original to this pot. But it might be! Porcelain. 9" diameter, turquoise colored glaze with gold trim on pot. There is a tiny amount of crazing on the rim of this pot. The lid has a rose motif and lots of crazing. It measures 5-1/2" tall without the lid and 8" tall with the lid. Excellent condition other than the crazing.
