Antique Cast Bronze Thai Singha Lion Thailand Sculpture Figure 11 inches tall
SEE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE* Antique Cast Bronze Thai Singha Lion Thailand Sculpture Figure 11 inches tall This is not one of the new reproductions! The Singha is a mystical lion found in ancient Hindu and Thai stories. This figure was made in the lost wax method of cast bronze and was purchased in Thailand in the 1950s by the previous owner. It weighs about 5 lbs and is about 11 1/8 inches tall. 5 1/2 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches deep. It has a great, rich patina in browns, greens, blackish and has some areas that have built up surface dirt, etc. that should not be cleaned off since it’s all part of the patina and would ruin the piece. The only cleaning it has received is a careful dusting with a rag and very soft brush to remove loose dirt. It’s of typical hollow construction and is partially filled with what appears to be some ... moretype of blackish wax or soft natural resin. Which can be seen in a couple spots on the sides of the two back feet where there is some loss to the bronze, revealing the inside resin(see photos below…there are lots of photos! Some of this internal material is loose and it rattles around inside and if you shake the figure upside down, a light dust of the material or dirt will come out of the mouth. There are also some very small holes on one of the back legs that are a result of the manufacturing process(see photos) The best way to describe this wonderful piece is with lots of photos. So please look carefully at all the images at the bottom of this page to see the item’s condition and take note of any holes, etc. If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer! Thai Four Face Buddha / Phra Phrom / Lord Brahma Carved Stone Figure Erawan Shr
Thai Four Face Buddha/ Phra Phrom/ Lord Brahma Carved Marble Statue Erawan Shr Presented is a fantastic Thai carved marble statue of the head of Phra Phrom or Lord Brahma. In Hinduism. Brahma is one of three important Hindu gods, and Brahma is responsible for creation. In Thai Buddhism, Brahma is a great god who always supports Buddhism. Phra Phrom is a fortune and protection deity. This is very likely a representation of the statue of Phra Phrom found at the Erawan Shrine. The piece is carved completely of one piece of stone(marble? and mounted onto the marble base. The fine patterned marble is an elegant complement to the skilled carving in the piece. This was purchased in the early 1970s. But may be much older. I don't know, and I don't want to guarantee anything. The condition is excellent. There are no breaks. From a private irish collection This is a guaranteed original approximately 300 year old bronze figure. This is an authentic cast bronze figure almost certainly Khmer or Thai(due to the head dress and garments) and probably representing an Aspara or a Kinnara. It has a deep almost black patina and could be older than the 18th century which I have given. I purchased and beleived it to be Shiva or Krishna with the snake Kaliya and from India. It is very heavy for it's size 6 inches tall. Any body with more info on this I would be delighted to know more.
