Circa 1960 Mahogany with gorgeous inlays Distressing to top Locking doors and drawer Sturdy. Excellent condition, This lovely serpentine sideboard was originally crafted in England around 1960. The wood is a brilliant mahogany which has developed a rich patina over the years. It boasts a lovely grain with some very impressive lighter tones. The mahogany is also complimented by satinwood string inlay. Mahogany cross banding, and a Georgian style satinwood fan inlay. These inlays are present on the top, cabinet doors and upper drawer. The central inlay on the top is by far the most impressive. Each of the cabinets of this sideboard features working locks and the right cabinet has a removable wooden shelf. The upper central drawer also has a working lock. And the piece comes with one key. The hardware on the drawer and cabinets is solid brass that also goes with the mahogany quite well. The six legs of this sideboard are all square and tapered, and have spade feet. Overall. The condition of this piece is excellent. There are slight, dark marks to the top which appear to be intentional distressing done by the maker. The beautify of the mahogany wood combined with the serpentine shape and well used inlay is what really draws your eye, making this sideboard an excellent piece for an area where you want people to really see it. For example it would work well not only in a dining room, but also in a foyer, or often traveled hallway. This is a very nice Antique that has been in the family for at least 100 years. This elegant piece measures 48 inches long by 17 1/2 inches deep by 56 1/2 inches high. The lockable doors have beveled glass and between them. The center features a beautiful Tulip made up and decorated with inlaid polished copper and brass. The shelves still have the original felt lining. I do not know the manufacturer but it does have a number. This piece was part of the art revolution of that time. The maple wood has never been refinished and is all original. It is in excellent condition for its age with only a few light scuff marks and a couple of nicks. 120yr Old!! Painted Oak Sideboard with Very Unique Triple Oxbow Design
The Skinner& Steenman company started in Howard city. Michigan in 1889 and quickly became Americas leading sideboard manufacturing company due to their excellent craftsmen ship and quality. The company continued to be leader in sideboards until 1907 when the owners decided to dissolve their partnership and go separate ways in the furniture world. There excellent quality can be seen in this 120 plus year old piece. Everything is in its original condition and it still in beautiful shape for being so old. This piece is approximately 120-125 years old. It is made of solid oak and everything is original except for the handles and the paint. I have found a couple ads selling original Skinner& Steenman door and drawer pulls if someone wanted to replace the pulls that are on the piece. The sideboard was originally a natural oak finish. All ... moreof the drawers and doors are in perfect working order. The skeleton key locks do work but keys are needed. There are 2 doors on the left and right side with ball catch latches. 2 drawers in the middle and one drawer on the bottom that stretches the length of the piece. This piece is very rare and made in American. I have not been able to find a single piece like it anywhere. There are no cracks throughout the entire piece. It is in amazing condition considering it is almost 125 years old. The original tag from the manufacturing company that is posted on the back of the piece is in better shape then any other tag from this particular maker that I have been able to find throughout the research that I have conducted over the last few years. Beautiful Circa 1830-1840 Antique American Empire Buffet Server Flame Mahogany
This is a Beautiful Form Antique American Empire Circa 1830- 1840 Dining Room Server in Striking Flame Mahogany Veneer. The piece has wonderful curved top drawers with hardware. There is no key present, I believe the knobs are original. The doors swing out to reveal a large interior. There has been a small repair to the back left top as shown, a triangular repair to the corner. There is a modern door latch as shown. The server measures 44 1/2" tall, 43 1/8" wide and 20 1/4" deep at the top. The feet make the server measure 23 1/3" deep at the bottom. Available for your condsideration is an Antique Victorian Era/ Turn of the Century Sideboard/ Buffet which is made of a Beautiful Tiger Oak Wood. This Antique Tiger Oak Sideboard/ Buffet is in Good Used Condition. I believe the mirror to be newer replacement and not original to the piece. The mirror is in excellent condition with No Chips. Cracks or Scratches to the silvering. In the back of the large single middle drawer in the upper right hand corner/ back piece is a knot hole. Finally, the lower right hand bottom door is stuck and I believe is due to the ball latch being frozen, can probably be easily fixed. No other problems to report and the finish on the entire piece is in very good condition. This Vintage Tiger Oak sideboard measures about 51" in height when including the mirror and 38" high to the top of the buffet. This ... morebuffet measures 42 1/2" wide and 20" deep. It was purchased from the old Antique Guild when they specialized in selling antiques. We were told at time of purchase that it was a European antique from the late 1890's. It is a lovely piece of furniture that could be used for multi-purposes(i.e. display cabinet. Dry bar, in a retail store or restaurant or just as a unique piece of furniture in your kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc. It has nice carving and woodwork details. The cabinet size with both pieces is approximately 78" high x 54" wide x 18" deep(approx. 19.5" deep at center) The bottom portion of the cabinet measures approx. 54" long, 18" deep, ... moreand 37" high. This cabinet consists of two pieces(the upper portion and bottom portion which are mounted to each other in the rear of the cabinet) The bottom portion of the cabinet has two side doors with carving details and shelves for storage. Antique Black Forest Handcarved Sideboard - Renaissance Style Beauty
This is the most amazing example I have seen of a hand-carved Black Forest Sideboard or Buffett. Obviously done by a Master Carver. Probably from the southern part of Germany. It is carved in the renaissance style and does not have the typical fish, stags and hunting motif of most of the hunting lodge furniture. This piece was most likely custom crafted as a wedding gift. I am basing this on the carving of the Knight on one side and his Lady on the other side. Coupled with the four lions heads they were probably of noble birth. Not to mention the huge size. It measures approximately 71 1/2 inches wide and a whopping 89 1/2 inches tall. The front has a small step-back and it measures 27 inches deep at the center. There is a key to this piece but I can't say if it is original. Also, one door pull is a replacement. Don't miss out on ... morethis one of a kind piece. It came from Europe It has the original heavy ornate hardware. it cmes in 3 sections. large bottom section. Top section with mirrors, and then the pediment top. Wonderful art Nouveau carvings. The mirrors may be a little imperfect as far as the silvering, but not bad. The floors boards in the drawers are certainly usable but a couple may want to be reinforced. 18th Century Hand Carved Walnut Continental Breakfront SideBoard
This majestic royal breakfront was purchased in the 1960's and had been in the same household since then. It has only been moved 3 times in 50-54 years. It was purchased from an antique dealer on the central California coast near Hearst castle. It is finely carved and the only similar carved furniture I have seen like it are in the Vatican Museum and the Academia museum in Venice Italy. This is a two piece breakfront. 2-3 men can lift it. The carving is finer than 19th century carving so I am leaning towards 18th century or earlier. The scene depicted is a finely carved King. Queen and their court. The carvings on the bottom on the doors are monks. This is the only one in the world. The King and court and the Monks heads on the bottom tell me that this may have been carved for a royal household or for the church. William Hurst brought ... morea lot of fine antiques over from Europe in the 1920's. It is possible a few were sold that he was displeased with. To have a piece like this in the USA is unusual because of the Royal theme and the quality of the carving. This is a local pickup only. This was made in the late Sheraton period, your looking at the very best and very early forming of the Empire period that transcends very strong classical influences. Best guess New Orleans Circa 1830's. It is most superior in every respect with two top drawers that lock with a very clever and sophisticated wooden lock latch system hidden in the overhung frame. It has a two door cupboard under the drawers. It has very well defined Ogee columns and back bun feet. Its sweet right down to the original divided drawer, original wooden pulls, finish and surface, It has a few tiny veneer losses which we will have our man address very nicely. These all do and its just the nature of the beast. We took very good pictures of this and your zoom browser can lock onto to every inch. It's sweet right down to the lovely applied carved bell flower and wreath applique and 60 1/4" long, 22 3/4" wide and 39 3/4" tall. This was actually used as a console in a grand foyer way with an amazing French mirror under it. A very nice antique. Circa 1900, signed: Berkey& Gay, solid quartersawn oak Louis XIII style sideboard. The case has three doors, the two left doors open to two gliding forward linen trays, the right door opens to two gliding forward trays- the top for flatware, the lower for napkins. Three baluster legs in front, with stretchers. Sideboard measures 3' 36-1/2" tall by 6'6" 78" wide by 22" deep. This lovely Antique French buffet dates from the 1800s. It is made of beautiful oak wood and has lovely hardware. It measures 58"W x 24"D x 39"H. It is in good condition considering the age. BERKEY & GAY 79" SIDEBOARD CARVED GOTHIC REVIVAL MAHOGANY MIRROR DOLPHINS GRAPES
Here is an unusual and rare piece of Berkey and Gay of Grand Rapids. Michigan, Gothic Revival furniture. Based on the paper tag, it was made in 1899, however, it is not like most of the furniture that this high end American cabinetmaker or furniture company was building at the time. This is a step above.gorgeous and long at 6 1/2 feet figured mahogany sideboard or server with the original beveled mirror, original finish, original hardware, all of the carvings are in excellent condition. The carvings are everywhere.the dolphins and fruit at the base of the mirror, the four roaring lion heads, the half round columns with tons of detail and the carved paneled doors with the face of Bacchus who is surrounded by detailed grapes, baskets of fruit and ribbons with more dolphins towards the bottom of the carvings. The feet in the front are carved ... moreand almost square where the rear legs are bun feet. All of the feet retain the original large wooden casters. The amount of storage space is spacious.with the three doors and the four cabinet doors. Height to top with mirror = 66" Height to top surface = 39" Length = 79" Depth = 26" The mirror in frame is 77" by 23 1/2" For more information. Substantial. Louis XV style, elegant, French provincial, walnut sideboard from a Los Gatos, CA estate. Enhanced with sinuous carvings; original hardware; a most beautiful gray-green&white marble top& backsplash. There are four pull-out drawers; two on the front& one on each corner. Below them is the storage area with shelves. The overall shape is enhanced by the curve of each end and the carved edge of the marble.
