First in my grandma's house ... morewhile growing up and then in my own home for about the past 30 years. I was told that it was custom-made and that it is one-of-a-kind. I would describe the style as subtle art deco. I have used it as a sideboard/credenza/buffet/chest as well as storage in an office, where it received constant compliments. It is wonderfully well-made in a very subtle art deco/craftsman/eclectic design that will actually work well with and complement many styles of furniture, including mid-century modern, arts& crafts, Eames era, and craftsman. I have been told by a carpenter with knowledge of wood, that it is a fine grade of teak, with beautiful dovetailing and separations between the drawer compartments and cabinet sections. One of the two side drawers is lined with green felt and partitioned to accommodate serving pieces or silverware. On each side, under the small top drawers, is a door behind which is open storage with two levels. In the center are three drawers, one shallower drawer at the top and two deeper drawers below. It is designed so that the center section with the drawers is gracefully indented between a slightly wider section on each end, with the drawers and open storage. The corners solid wood top are gracefully rounded, as is the place where the center section curves out to meet the wider sides. The hardware is beautifully simple and well designed. It is in very good to excellent vintage/antique condition. With smoothly sliding drawers and very little in the way of surface cosmetic concerns. All the joints are. Dimensions: Width is 62-1/2 inches. The two outer sections are 21 inches deep. The center section is 19-1/2 inches deep. Height is 33-3/4 inches. Inside the doors. Here is an exquisite. Massive, Antique 19th cent. American(probably Horner) quarter sawn oak sideboard buffet server. Straight out of a Long Island estate. Was in the same family for 70 years. This piece was made around 1880 and represents carved oak at its best. Incredibly carved with lions' heads. Paws, ribbons, and scrolls. Doors are all carved scrolls with center cartouche. They are separated by 2 columns of carved ribbons and fruit. The drawers above have handles of lions' faces. The top is crowned with an incredible lion head. The only condition issues are a small ring stain and a darker area on the top front right. Also a thin slit in the wood appx 18 inch long. These are very minor and can easily be fixed. 1930's Oak Cloud Back Buffet Server This estate item is ready to use as is or spruce up to your liking! It is beautifully grained Oak throughout. Most of the piece is constructed with thick Oak Ply and case frame is solid Oak. Secondary wood is Birch. Has beautiful Cloud Design Bevel Mirror. There are neat deeply colored marbled Butterscotch Bakelite vertical pulls on all drawers and doors. This buffet was used so it does show wear here and there. There is some loss of finish on top from people leaving drinks where they shouldn't(photo 11) and there is slight mirror backing deterioration along edges(photo 4) if you look closely. Up for your consideration is this very impressive piece that has been in our family for 40 years. It was bought from an antique store and were told the following at that time. It is French from the 1880's- 1920(French revival period? It is solid oak or walnut It has brass hardware Also noted is that there are no known problems with the piece- nothing on it is broken. One key is included The hutch is 8 ft high. 21" deep, and 57" wide at the widest The bottom part is 36" high by 52" wide There is one shelf inside the bottom part and then the bottom shelf. It measures 15 1/2" deep The top part is 51" high by 52" wide. The top part has 2 shelves inside plus the bottom. These shelves measure 9" deep. There is an ornate plate rack on the back of the serving surface. There are beautiful. Ornate carvings ... moreon all areas of this beautiful piece. There are elegant brass drawer pulls. 18th century solid oak Butlers Hutch This was purchased over 30 years ago at the Antique Buyers guild( The old Helms Bakery L.A) We where told at the time of the purchase that it dates to the late 1700's and was made in the Adam period French in origin. It is a impressive piece of furniture. It is all hand carved solid oak. The cabinets each have one shelf inside bottom is sagging so I placed a piece of hard board in there. It has a incredible dark patina. It measures approx. 94 1/2" tall 47" wide under 24" deep The hutch is attached to the base using dowels So it lifts off the base From what I remember they only stick out a inch You need at least a 8' ceiling. My home was built in the late 1940's so the ceilings are 8'2" a newer home might be a tight fit. Years ago because I was concerned about earthquakes ... moreI attached 2) 2"x4"s to the back to make it sturdier. They are stained to match. So for those of you with a tight fit. I think it could be set up without the dowels across the back because of the 2" x4"s the 2 spindles in the front supporting the hutch also come off. There are dowels sticking out both ends. You could leave one end in and maybe put a screw trough the bottom. One other modification I noticed will up inside the cabinet is that wood was added on both sides under the base's top( I would guess the top may have been sagging under the weight of the Hutch) hence the addition. There are 2 small dowels missing on the rail on the inside( good place) hardly noticeable. One small piece gone off the top. Again hardly noticeable. I didn't catch it when I bought it. Other then that as you can see it is impressive without being over bearing. I don't need to sell so I don't plan on dropping my prices. This price is what I want to part with it. ANTIQUE FRENCH COUNTRY 18 c. OAK BIBLIOTHEQUE BUFFET BOOKCASE Formally the top part of an 18th century French Buffet a Deux Corps currently used as a bookcase. The bottom part was lost through the centuries and the top was raised on bun feet and rounded apron was added to the bottom. This transformation took place a while ago and the wood shows some aging and doesn’t stand out. Two doors open wide. Revealing the interior, which is about 52” from side to side ... moreand 13” deep and 52” tall. We have added two 1 ½” thick heavy duty pine shelves. Which are completely adjustable and will hold a lot of weight. The shelves were aged to look old and will not stand out. The front doors are covered with gathered French country style fabric. Which can be removed so that you can see the interior through the glass. The lock is in working condition, complete with the key. The bibliotheque measures about 59” at the widest point and about 20 ¾” deep. It stands up about 63 ½” tall and the top surface can be used as a shelf. Displaying collectable items. Very heavy. Solid and well built item. The primer material is oak. However, secondary woods was also used on the sides and the back, which is common for 18th Century furniture. We were using it in our office for files and fabric samplers and it is hard to find a bookcase which will fit oversized files and provide such great access as this item does. Good overall condition, This quaint English oak sideboard was made around 1940 and is the perfect size for a variety of places in the home. The shaped back splash has a beveled mirror and the cabinet doors are decorated with carvings in the outside upper corners. The drawers slide in and out easily and the cabinet doors both lock with included key. The inside of the right drawer used to have ... moregreen felt that was partially removed. Leaving the inside of the drawer with a green tinge(see picture) There is normal wear throughout in the form of tiny dings here and there, but overall this buffet is in very good condition and quite sturdy. The drawers are made with hand cut dovetails which gives you an idea of the high level of craftsmanship that went into this sideboard. The sideboard is 36" tall to the counter and 46.5" tall to the top of the back splash. Plenty of storage space in this sideboard! The cabinet doors both lock. These carved decorations adorn the outside upper corners of the doors. Each drawer has two solid brass pulls. The drawers are made with hand cut dovetails. The right drawer used to have green felt inside. Now it has a green tinge from where that felt was removed. The counter top has minor wear in the form of tiny dings or stains. Vintage Shabby Chic Sideboard Painted in Annie Sloan Beautiful vintage French oak sideboard which has been lovingly hand painted in Annie Sloan- Paris Grey. A fabulous solid piece with some wonderful detailing. The painted woodwork has been distressed in areas of natural wear this adds an extra dimension to the piece and highlights the pieces unique features. It has then been finished with natural wax to increase durability. The piece is a single large cupboard with a single shelf and double door opening. On the right side on the inside is a chunky drawer that has been divided into individual sections to store cutlery. The piece provides good deep spaces ideal for storing your favourite china or hiding away and wayward bits and bobs. It has some wonderful decorative features from the triple orb feet the beveled top and the wonderful floral ... moredetailing. this detailing can be found at the bottom of each of the side panels just above the feet and is repeated on a curved bar which. Runs along the front just above the doors. The side pillars also have a wonder vertical stripe detail with a deep curved top. The tops of the doors are furnished with a smart design detail which is rounded top and bottom. the look is completed with highly decorative gold coloured leaf handles. HORNER tag is gone) Spectacular Tiger Oak Sideboard. This beauty has the LIONS or Griffins, the BIZARRE DOLPHINS with the large protruding LIPS, SEASHELL PULLS, and Acanthus Vine and Leaf Decorations. all telling us that this is truly a R.J. Horner! The quality of the carvings is absolutely awesome. The acanthus adorned Lions(Griffins) along the top row of drawers are hauntingly lifelike as Horner was renowned for in all his work. The tiger oak is'top of the line' Of course. All the middle drawers. Doors and bottom FULL WIDTH DRAWER still have their locks and keyhole covers. It appears that one of the early owners wanted to hang a very large painting above this sideboard ... morerather than the mirror that might have been part of the piece. I'm sure this situation was quite common. They also either special ordered the piece with no feet or removed them to make room on the wall for a very tall and wide canvas! We decided to keep this rare find as original as we found it. If desired. Our expert woodworker can make the very simple feet(basically 1-2 inch thick 5 inch square pieces) They would match other Horner sideboards and servers that we have sold in the past. Impressive solid Oak Dining Set consisting of a large Table with six(6) Chairs. A Buffet, and a Court Cupboard, circa 1940. We are pleased to present this vintage Dining Set for your consideration. Dating to the 1930 to 1950 time period. This American set is constructed of solid Oak with gorgeous Burl Walnut decorative veneers. It has an English Jacobean look with a Spanish Revival or Moorish flair, and is sure to attract attention and garner compliments. Hardware is original, with vintage KBC( Keeler Brass Company) drawer pulls. The set consists of the following: Dining Table. Two individual pull-out leaves give this Table enormous flexibility. With both leaves stowed. The Table measures 66 inches in length. With one leave out, the Table extends to 84 inches in length. With both leaves, the Table becomes a spacious 102 inches in length. ... moreIt is 38 inches wide and 30-3/4 inches in height. The Table has minimal age appropriate wear with no damage or significant problems. We rate the overall condition as very good to excellent(see pictures) Six(6) Chairs. Includes one captain(or carver) Chair plus five(5) side Chairs. The top of each Chair has an unusual decorative applied trim piece made of a vintage resin material(see picture#8) We at first thought it was made of wood. But a few spots are worn smooth revealing the true material. All Chairs are impressively ornate, with extensive carved and turned wood. The fabric covering on each is in good shape. We rate their overall condition as very good. Court Cupboard. A tall piece. It measures 65 inches high, 43 inches wide, and is 18-1/2 inches deep. It provides two spacious enclosed cupboards, each with a single shelf, separated by a drawer in the middle. Some water ring stains are seen on the interior shelves, but nothing penetrating the surface. Doors open and close with ease, and the door latches work properly. There is a short back splash on top with a shelf on top of it for extra space. There are 4 large doors on the front that have overlap construction to add to the character of the piece. The doors are made of alternating wood panels to appear striped. The interior has 2 large shelves for storage behind each set of doors. There are large ornate brass ... morehinges on the outer doors and a brass keyhole cover as well. We do not have the key for this piece. The 2 inner doors has a large framed wooden medallion in the center of them. The legs are straight. I do not know the maker or exact date this buffet server was made. This piece is antique and may not be perfect however its condition is excellent. It measures 41 7/8 inches tall. 78 ½ inches side to side and 19 inches front to back. It weighs 150 pounds.
