The edge is is flat with no detail. There is a stretcher type piece above and below the door openings. The flush doors have an external mounted wood pivot that runs from top to bottom on the edge of each door. Each door has beautiful paintings of flowers and vases in mostly red colors. The drawer fronts. Front frame, spandrels and apron also have painted designs. The lacquer on the top of the cabinet appears to be done in a style that is called Pi Ma Hui. Which is a process where a layer of fabric is first placed on the cabinet and the lacquer is applied over the fabric. As seen in the photos there are sections of the lacquer missing and there are cracks in the finish. The lacquer is black but in some areas looks more like a very dark brown due to aging. 1929 Antique Dining Set with Sideboard/Buffet
From the research that we have done this is a table made in Wabash IN in 1929. It is made by B. Walters and as you can see in the pictures it has a patent on it for having the sliding leaves in it. the leaves slide right under the top for easy access and storage. This is believed to be the original fabric on the chairs.we removed over 5 layers of fabric and the last 2 layers were tacked on. The fabric shows minimal wear and needs a good cleaning. But we wanted to leave in its original comdition and let the new owner make that call. this set was a one owner set and we bought this from an estate sale. Table is 31in H x 38in W x 60inL(86inL with leaves) The set is almost flawless. All drawers and cabinets open with ease, no noise etc. The chairs are all in great shape except the Captains chair once had a small fracture in the back side of the ... morearm about 2 inches, which has been fixed. Wonderful antique buffet sideboard. This is a true quality item! Superbly made and exceptionally heavy! Measures 72 inches across. Depth 23 inches across front marble. Mirror top to marble base. 26 inches. 46 inches from floor to marble base. Interior side shelves measure 17 inches long and 7 1/2 inches wide. 2 side doors swing out to the side. Main body interior is 16 inches deep by 48 inches long by 30 inches tall. 2 front drawers with two side drawers. Swing out to the side as shown! Solid oak everywhere! Even the drawer linings. Draw sides and back are all oak and not an inferior wood. The interior is all oak. The doors lock but I have lost the key! Currently all the doors are unlocked! Inside at the back somebody cut a hole out. Not sure why that was done but it is there! The only newish part is an interior shelf which is in the main ... morebody. I believe it is still solid oak but it lacks the patina of the original. The glass is not damaged anywhere. The marble has exquisite shading and color. With pink, grey and purple variations. It has light scratches on the top and minor tiny chips on the edge as expected for a piece this age. It is not broken anywhere! The carvings are so wonderful with urns. Horns, ribbons, roses, tassels, swags and leaves. Both front panels have cracks on the decoration as seen in the photographs. Very reluctantly for sale! This piece was made around 1880 and represents carved oak at its best. Incredibly carved with lions' heads. Paws, ribbons, and scrolls. Doors are all carved scrolls with center cartouche. They are separated by 2 columns of carved ribbons and fruit. The drawers above have handles of lions' faces. The top is crowned with an incredible lion head. The only condition issues are a small ring stain and a darker area on the top front right. Also a thin slit in the wood appx 18 inch long. These are very minor and can easily be fixed. It's in the style of Louis XVI with classic carvings of flowers and ribbons. The wood is solid oak with a warm medium/dark finish. This cabinet is in very good antique condition with no damage of any significance but with the usual small nicks and scratches one sees in 100+ year old furniture. There is absolutely no woodworm or dry rot. This is a two piece cabinet. Most of the piece is constructed with thick Oak Ply and case frame is solid Oak. Secondary wood is Birch. Has beautiful Cloud Design Bevel Mirror. There are neat deeply colored marbled Butterscotch Bakelite vertical pulls on all drawers and doors. This buffet was used so it does show wear here and there. There is some loss of finish on top from people leaving drinks where they shouldn't(photo 11) and there is slight mirror backing deterioration along edges(photo 4) if you look closely. Up for your consideration is this very impressive piece that has been in our family for 40 years. It was bought from an antique store and were told the following at that time. It is French from the 1880's- 1920(French revival period? It is solid oak or walnut It has brass hardware Also noted is that there are no known problems with the piece- nothing on it is broken. One key is included The hutch is 8 ft high. 21" deep, and 57" wide at the widest The bottom part is 36" high by 52" wide There is one shelf inside the bottom part and then the bottom shelf. It measures 15 1/2" deep The top part is 51" high by 52" wide. The top part has 2 shelves inside plus the bottom. These shelves measure 9" deep. There is an ornate plate rack on the back of the serving surface. There are beautiful. Ornate carvings ... moreon all areas of this beautiful piece. There are elegant brass drawer pulls. Offered for sale is a Beautiful French Cherry Antique Server/Buffet/Sideboard. This sideboard features beautifully hand-carved details. Four dove-tailed drawers and four doors each with 2 adjustable shelves and scroll feet. The hardware is solid brass and the cherry grain is gorgeous. The drawers include mahogany and ash wood. This sideboard measures 41" high x 87 1/2" wide x 21" deep. The cabinet has locks, but we do not have the key. The sideboard is in excellent overall condition with light scratches on the top surface(see pics#5, 6) It appears a prior owner sanded the top very smooth but did not refinish the top with varnish. The back of the sideboard does not have any manufacturer's signature. 18th century solid oak Butlers Hutch This was purchased over 30 years ago at the Antique Buyers guild( The old Helms Bakery L.A) We where told at the time of the purchase that it dates to the late 1700's and was made in the Adam period French in origin. It is a impressive piece of furniture. It is all hand carved solid oak. The cabinets each have one shelf inside bottom is sagging so I placed a piece of hard board in there. It has a incredible dark patina. It measures approx. 94 1/2" tall 47" wide under 24" deep The hutch is attached to the base using dowels So it lifts off the base From what I remember they only stick out a inch You need at least a 8' ceiling. My home was built in the late 1940's so the ceilings are 8'2" a newer home might be a tight fit. Years ago because I was concerned about earthquakes ... moreI attached 2) 2"x4"s to the back to make it sturdier. They are stained to match. So for those of you with a tight fit. I think it could be set up without the dowels across the back because of the 2" x4"s the 2 spindles in the front supporting the hutch also come off. There are dowels sticking out both ends. You could leave one end in and maybe put a screw trough the bottom. One other modification I noticed will up inside the cabinet is that wood was added on both sides under the base's top( I would guess the top may have been sagging under the weight of the Hutch) hence the addition. There are 2 small dowels missing on the rail on the inside( good place) hardly noticeable. One small piece gone off the top. Again hardly noticeable. I didn't catch it when I bought it. Other then that as you can see it is impressive without being over bearing. I don't need to sell so I don't plan on dropping my prices. This price is what I want to part with it. Offered here is a gorgeous Antique French Carved Walnut Buffet circa 1880. This piece features the crest with Northwind mask. Then upper cabinet with foliate carved panels and display shelf raised on baluster form supports over a three drawer, three door base cabinet similarly relief carved with fruit filled urns and foliate panels. This beautiful buffet measures 110" high x 76" wide x 23" deep and would be the focal piece of any room. The piece is in very nice condition, but it does have a few flaws expected in a piece its age. There are a few trim pieces missing, along with a couple of splits in the wood, none of which are very noticeable for important and do not distract from the piece in any way. Made in England, Regency period circa 1820, Mahogany, Keys included, Beautiful patina, Antique brass hardware(not original) Age split to top. Purely cosmetic, Very sturdy, This unique sideboard was made during the Regency period in England. Sometime around 1820. In keeping with classic Regency period design, this sideboard was crafted with a series of large, bold features that have helped not only to make it a beautiful specimen of English craftsmanship, but also a strong and enduring furniture piece. For example, the wood used in this sideboard is ... moreincredibly thick(note the large legs) and of course all of it is solid. The flame mahogany, which has developed a lovely patina, displays an incredibly rich grain and complexion. The solid brass handles have been replaced at some point, but they are antique themselves and go well with the Regency period. The two center drawers, right large drawer, and left cabinet door all lock with included keys. The right drawer has a fitted interior that was used for holding wine bottles. There is an age split to the top on the back right hand side, but this is very minor and purely cosmetic. A picture is included of it. The top has minor marks throughout that show as distressing that gives the piece authenticity of its age without detracting from it. Overall this sideboard is very sturdy and is a wonderful value for such a wonderful piece. Plenty of storage space in this sideboard. The left drawer is fitted to hold wine bottles. The drawers are jointed with hand cut dovetails. These antique brass pulls are not original to the piece. But are consistent with the style. The thick. Turned legs are one of the main characteristics of the Regency style. The mahogany has developed a beautiful patina.

The wood appears to be mahogany and it has a dark finish. There is a beautifully carved crown on the hutch above the server. The hutch has 3 doors all of them have locks and a key. The 2 side doors are paneled with small floral carvings to match the crown. The center door has beveled glass that appears to be original old glass. There are ... moreno breaks. Cracks, chips or scuffs on the glass. There is an adjustable shelf inside the hutch doors. The lower center back of the hutch holds a beveled edge mirror. The mirror is in great condition too with no chips, cracks or breaks. The top of the buffet server is ivory marble and in great shape. There are no chips, cracks or breaks that I can see in the marble. The corners of the marble are rounded and smooth and the top surface is smooth to the touch. The buffet has 3 paneled doors and 2 dovetail drawers all have locks and a key. We have 3 keys to this piece. The keyhole plate is missing from the front of the right side lower door. This piece is very elegant. The corners of the hutch and server are reeded and carved with flowers that match the crown. The front feet are reeded bulb style. We purchased this piece from a couple that bought it in Holland and had it shipped to the US for their home. This is a beautiful Quarter Sawn Oak Large China Buffet/ Sideboard with Beveled Mirrors and Beveled Lead Glass on the doors. It was made prior to 1840. I believe that it is American made. Not sure of the manufacture. It is in excellent condition. I have owned this piece for over 18 years. It has carving on the doors and on the top. It is easily transported in 4 separate sections.
