Horner did make ... moreone model that is as grand with griffins supporting the top and I've only heard of one selling in the past 6 years. This is a opportunity to buy a museum quality piece of American history that will not happen again for some time. We have restored it to its original grandeur and it has no apologies as you can see. Rarely can you stand 100% behind a piece that is 110+ years old to the extent I will with this one. I will shorten my description because the pictures really tell the tale. Starting at the bottom you have a massive base with bowed and projected center section and fluted drawers. On the ends stand full bodied griffins on the 45 degree angle and they are huge! Their heads are 5+" across. That's the start, them moving up to the center section the curio top is supported by 4 massive ball and claw feet and carved ankles. Three beveled mirrors comprise the back filler section and this all supports this massive curio glass top. The top consists of a total of 12 beveled and mirrored glass' the bonnets are carved with radius doors and a arched hood then topped with a huge 16" carved lions head in the center. Within the arch is a carved frieze board with fighting griffins holding a carved crest of sorts. I'm trying to stop I promise but it's a exciting piece! The hardware is the heaviest detailed hardware I've seen on a piece with the greatest detail, carved lions heads and faces with manes. Every screw to every piece of hardware was there and we cleaned every piece and reapplied them. Fantastic piece that deserves the proper home. I am guessing this was refinished in the last 10 years in a medium oak stain finish that has held up nicely. It has cast brass hardware, leaded glass center door on top panel in the center between the two doors that offers a curio cabinet top that has a mirror back, below is a bevel glass mirror and it is all supported with cabriole claw foot leg supports. The base cabinet has two long narrow drawers above the two doors and the bottom center panel is plain glass. I assume the bottom glass was originally leaded glass and has been replaced. It has two doors and a deep drawer on the base. The overall size is 48 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 68 inches high. It comes with a key.

Wonderful antique buffet sideboard. This is a true quality item! Superbly made and exceptionally heavy! Measures 72 inches across. Depth 23 inches across front marble. Mirror top to marble base. 26 inches. 46 inches from floor to marble base. Interior side shelves measure 17 inches long and 7 1/2 inches wide. 2 side doors swing out to the side. Main body interior is 16 inches deep by 48 inches long by 30 inches tall. 2 front drawers with two side drawers. Swing out to the side as shown! Solid oak everywhere! Even the drawer linings. Draw sides and back are all oak and not an inferior wood. The interior is all oak. The doors lock but I have lost the key! Currently all the doors are unlocked! Inside at the back somebody cut a hole out. Not sure why that was done but it is there! The only newish part is an interior shelf which is in the main ... morebody. I believe it is still solid oak but it lacks the patina of the original. The glass is not damaged anywhere. The marble has exquisite shading and color. With pink, grey and purple variations. It has light scratches on the top and minor tiny chips on the edge as expected for a piece this age. It is not broken anywhere! The carvings are so wonderful with urns. Horns, ribbons, roses, tassels, swags and leaves. Both front panels have cracks on the decoration as seen in the photographs. Very reluctantly for sale! This sideboard was made around the time that Eastlake pieces had started to be constructed using oak vs walnut in America and when Eastlake was becoming less popular and Art Nouveau was the"in" thing.around the 1880's through the 1890's. So this solid quartersawn oak sideboard has the best of both worlds. The base has two drawers and two doors with lots of storage space inside. The doors are paneled and have very cool shell and foliage carvings. The hardware on the drawers and doors is original and there are two different keys which will lock and unlock each door. Besides the carved paneled doors. The other interesting carving on this piece is kind of a feathered or herringbone type carving. It's in the style of Louis XVI with classic carvings of flowers and ribbons. The wood is solid oak with a warm medium/dark finish. This cabinet is in very good antique condition with no damage of any significance but with the usual small nicks and scratches one sees in 100+ year old furniture. There is absolutely no woodworm or dry rot. This is a two piece cabinet. Up for your consideration is this very impressive piece that has been in our family for 40 years. It was bought from an antique store and were told the following at that time. It is French from the 1880's- 1920(French revival period? It is solid oak or walnut It has brass hardware Also noted is that there are no known problems with the piece- nothing on it is broken. One key is included The hutch is 8 ft high. 21" deep, and 57" wide at the widest The bottom part is 36" high by 52" wide There is one shelf inside the bottom part and then the bottom shelf. It measures 15 1/2" deep The top part is 51" high by 52" wide. The top part has 2 shelves inside plus the bottom. These shelves measure 9" deep. There is an ornate plate rack on the back of the serving surface. There are beautiful. Ornate carvings ... moreon all areas of this beautiful piece. There are elegant brass drawer pulls. We believe that the top lifts off of the bottom part for transport. I'm happy to answer questions on this piece to the best of my ability. But am not an antiques expert.

Outstanding! Beautifully Carved, Quarter Sawn Oak, RJ Horner Sideboard Must See!
Beautiful. Heavily flaked quarter sawn oak sideboard in the manner of RJ Horner. Pics tell most of the story. Measurements are as follows: 84"W x 69"T X 24"D. Weight: approx. 150-200lbs. There are a couple of small trim pieces where the backsplash meets the base that are missing, a couple that are loose. The top section of the backsplash has seperated and a couple small pieces of carved trimwork are missing as a result(can be seen in the pics) There is a small a chip on the front left edge of the table surface. One of the locks is missing from one of the doors and there is a stain on the top that can be clearly seen in the photo. Im sure there are other bumps/bruises but nothing glaring. All that having been said, this piece is really stunning in person and all of the condition issues are fairly simple repairs. The flaws I ... morementioned are only noticed upon close scrutiny and have never been pointed out to me by anyone who has seen it in person. Original finish is in good shape, just as it appears in the photos. The color, in person, is probably somewhere between the lightest and darkest photos. The carving on this piece is AWESOME! The quartersawn grain is heavy and pronounced. Bought this piece and the matching server, which I will be listing soon) to restore but I am out of time/space. I feel I have a reasonable opening bid on this piece but if it does not sell, I will restore it and the price will go up considerably. Personally, im kinda getting burned out on the figurals and winged griffins that usually adorn pieces of this quality so its nice to see a great piece without that typical subject matter. This gorgeous early to mid-twentieth century oak sideboard was imported from the Uk through Edinburgh. Scotland and offers a lovely combination of carving, beaded inlay around the mirror, original hardware and lovely columns accenting the mirror. This large sideboard stands 65 inches tall with the mirror back in place and the beveled mirror itself measures 40 long by 12 inches tall. The mirror is overall in good condition with some pitting in one corner but overall clear and free of any ... morecracks or chips. This sideboard measures 72 inches long by 24 inches front to back, and features beautiful oak grains and lovely parquet doors. This sturdy, solid wood sideboard has carved drawers, legs, feet and edges with a stretcher shelf that runs the length of the piece 12 inches below the bottom of the cabinet. With a low canopy back with elaborate carved bulbous columns& geometric& carved detail throughout, The sideboard section has a shaped front and stands on 4 bulbous carved front legs& square back legs. All of which are united by sturdy stretchers, it has 2 large drawers and a secret cutlery drawer with carved front, this has wooden divisions and baize lining, these are flanked by cupboards with striking ... moregeometric detail and internal solid wood shelves, The handles are made of cast brass and have detail of a females head. A lovely large display shelf is at the top adorned with a fancy carved gallery above. Full fluted columns are the mirror supports with each side also having candle shelves. The base offers an abundance of storage possibilities with its two smaller drawers over a larger serpentine ... morefront drawer with two large cabinets below. The drawers each have period dove-tailed ends. And all the locks are intact but we do not have the key and the casters are also intact on the base.The cabinet doors are also highly carved with applied scroll carvings and carved Ansonia Heads the center of each door. The base is flanked with full fluted columns with a fluted torch surrounded by with scroll carvings in between the doors Measurements: This marvelous piece measures a total height of 74 in. to the very top.Height to the front measures 37 3/4 inches, with a total width of 50 inches, total depth of 26 inches and approximate weight of 150 lbs. The original beveled mirror measures 35 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches high. The display shelf measures 46 inches wide by 9 1/2 inches deep.This sideboard/ buffet does dis-assemble into two pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. Condition: The original beveled mirror does show some silver loss in a few spots and some cloudiness as common with these old mirrors. This is a really great quarter sawn oak sideboard server. Circa 1900 American with extensive carving. Overall size of the piece is height 83. Width 48, and depth 24. This piece has been refinished and has a smooth and even finish. Note the beveled mirror(excellent) and the original brass pulls. The carvings are very good and in an overall organic motif. The quartered oak used in this piece is very nice. Unusual fall front drawer on the front. From an estate in Southern Michigan- a very impressive piece. Unsigned but certainly the distinctive design of"Romweber of Indiana. this elegant dining set includes a server or console, china cabinet, table and 8 chairs. The finish is in excellent condition on American made furniture from about 1950. Fruitwood and walnut with matched burl panels. This vintage furniture is strong and solid. The sideboard has a richly figured marble top. There are small scratches and stains. There are also small scratches on the wood top underneath. Measurements are 6' 2" wide, 24" deep and 35" tall. The marble top was added later. China Cabinet measurements are 45" wide. 22" deep and 78" tall. Table measurements are 47" wide. 30" tall, legroom is 25 1/2" underneath and length when closed ... moreis 5' 6. With all four 15" wide leaves with matching skirts or aprons in place, length is 10' 7" total. Six side chairs plus two arm chairs all have the original European tapestry fabric in remarkably fine condition. With minor spots, see photos. Arm chairs measure 24" wide, 26" deep, 46" tall and seats are 20" high, six side chairs are 21" wide, 25" deep and 46" tall. Three of the side chairs have a slight flex at the rear joints- they are strong and usable as they are, and should be reglued whenever they are next reupholstered.
