This fabulous Victorian sideboard features an abundance of beautiful carvings from top to bottom.from the center raised panel adorned with raised fancy scroll carvings. Beaded trim across the top, carved half sunflowers, incised carvings, pierced geometric carvings and foliate carved supports. We believe this piece to have its original finish as well as the original marble. Mirrors and fancy brass drawer pulls and also has its original wood casters intact on the base. The locks are all intact but we do not have the key and the right top drawer features a divided section with remnants of the old blue felt lining inside. Otherwise there is absolutely no damage or breaks or cracks, and all hardware is original brass, that definitely needs to be polished to look brass again, incredible for a piece from 1885. The description as read on an 1980 appraisal of actual value,NOT INSURANCE, reads as follows. Buffet, oak, American, circa 1850s-80s, 92"wide, 36"high, 19"deep, brass hardware, 5 top drawers, pretty large some with dividers for silverware, etc. and 5 doors. Beautiful art-deco classic! A fine Italian marquetry sideboard. From about 1935 I think, it features impressive flame-mahogany and burl-walnut veneers, classic angle-fronted drawers, beveled and etched-glass doors, a marble top, scalloped edges, and bronze and Bakelite hardware. The piece comes apart in two sections, with the back and upper cupboards lifting off the base section. Dimensions are approx. 76" H x 62" W x 21" D. The piece is original and authentic. And as such there is evidence of minor damage to the veneer, with a few small chips on the top and front of some drawers, and the left hand glass door. I have attempted to show this in the last 3 photos. The effect is hardly noticeable, and does nothing to detract from the rather elegant majesty of the piece. Antique Walnut Wood & Beveled Mirror For Buffet Dresser Mantle Sideboard
Very nice vintage or antique mirror that looks as though it came from a buffet. Sideboard cupboard, or a mantle. This is a very heavy item. The wood frame is a dark wood and looks like walnut but could be oak. The top of the mirror comes to a swirled point and then into a square. The back is put together with nails and wavy staples. There was new picture wire hanger that was added to the mirror when I purchased it but I removed it. that is why there are two holes on each side. There are no markings or numbers on the mirror. Measures 27-1/4"L x 17"H x 3/4" thick. The mirror is beveled around the edges and does have dark silvery spots in places. As you can see it has a lovely patination. Quality fielded and carved panels along with nicely balustraded shelves, the drawers are fully oak lined. The top of the sideboard has opened up a little( see photo) due to shrinkage commensurate with a piece of furniture of this age but does not affect its function. The servery top has a marble slab insert, in brown, cream and grey colourway, and a small raised shelf on beautifully carved and turned supports. A beautiful Renaissance Walnut Buffet circa 1880 with heavy brass handles. Three drawers on top. And three compartments below. The whole buffet is in heavy and high quality hand-carved details. Up for auction is an antique French 2 Corps Buffet made of oak with walnut trim in nice condition for its age. I am not an antique furniture dealer. This is my personal property that I own and use in my home in North Carolina I acquired several pieces of antique furniture while living in Europe and I purchased this buffet from an antique dealer in France. This sideboard features a large mirror over a long shelf. A smaller mirror rest under the shelf which is held by turned spindles. These mirrors are not beveled. However we believe them to be original. A beautiful piece of Tennessee brown marble serves as the work surface. With several drawers and doors with working locks and key, this sideboard offers a great amount of storage. The lovely brass hardware we also believe to be original. Solid and sturdy there is a repair to one side(photo 10) and one door they are solid repairs and do not appear to be an issue~just part of being 130 years old. Antique Victorian Burl Walnut Marble Top Server c. 1800's Sideboard Buffet
Gorgeous Victorian era marble top server or sideboard. This beautiful piece has been capped with a gray and white marble top with rounded corners. The server show signs of high-quality construction including a paneled back and sides and sturdy dovetail joint drawers. The two drawers have fluted edges surrounding burl walnut inlay. Pressed brass pulls with a sun-like like design and silver-friendly linings. The lower cabinet has two doors, each with a burl walnut panel framed in a molded edge. The ring shaped pulls and brass escutcheons are made from brass. This piece most likely dates from the late 19th century. No maker's marks. The server is in good antique condition with some small holes in the marble top. See pictured example. The locks have been removed. But are being stored in one of the drawers and could probably be easily reinstalled ... moreby the buyer. Otherwise, there is only light wear commensurate with age and use. As we define'good ... morecondition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings on a piece of furniture, normal separation at joints in wood due to expansion and contraction over time, minor damage to veneer has been stabilized, most locks functioning, most drawers and doors open or slide easily, some original trim may be missing or has been replaced with genuine period-correct substitutes or new reproductions, and there may be one or more splits in the wood due to age and use. If there has been a break in the marble, it has been repaired and the repair may be visible. There may be minor restoration that is visible. Chairs considered'good condition' may have professional structural repairs but are considered to be structurally sound. These types of repairs may be visible upon close inspection. Upholstered items may show wear consistent with age and use and may need to be reupholstered.
