A fine Italian marquetry sideboard. It features impressive flame-mahogany and burl-walnut veneers, classic angle-fronted drawers, beveled and etched-glass doors, a marble top, scalloped edges, and bronze and Bakelite hardware. The piece comes apart in two sections, with the back and upper cupboards lifting off the base section. Dimensions are approx. 76" H x 62" W x 21" D. The piece is original and authentic. And as such there is evidence of minor damage to the veneer, with a few small chips on the top and front of some drawers, and the left hand glass door. I have attempted to show this in the last 3 photos. The effect is hardly noticeable, and does nothing to detract from the rather elegant majesty of the piece. Approximate measurements in inches are as follows: 18.5 deep, 61.25 wide, 36 tall. The set also includes a scaled-down breakfront. A double pedestal table, and chairs. Condition is generally good. But a strip of veneer has come off the top right corner(see picture) and the veneer on the top edge of one drawer needs to be re-glued. You will also need to make a few touch-ups here and there. Where this buffet or console was made making full use of the beautiful grain and color that yew wood has. This antique style console is the perfect size for a variety of uses including as a dining room piece or to go under a TV and house TV peripherals. With three drawers and three locking cabinets, there is plenty of storage space in this yew ... morewood buffet. Each cabinet door houses one shelf that has three different height adjustments. The piece sits up on bracket feet, which makes it appear less blocky and more airy. We figure it was made around 1960 or so. You will notice from the pictures that there are two circles of darker color on the top. This is probably where two lamps or large hurricanes sat and kept the light from hitting the top of the sideboard in those areas. This meant that the wood underneath did not patinate like the rest of the wood. The front left bracket foot has been broken and repaired. The repair is strong but visible. There are also very light surface scratches to the top. They are hard to see unless you have the right kind of light which is why we took a picture of the top with a glare on it to highlight those marks. There are a few dings around the mouldings as well. But overall this is a very sturdy and good condition piece of yew wood furniture that will serve any home or office well for years to come! Vintage Antique Cherry Wood Buffet Server / Sideboard circa 1920's
This unique solid wood sideboard/ buffet was made in Brooklyn. New York in the mid to late 1920’s and owned by my Grandmother, who passed it on to me. The piece has an unusual design and is in great condition considering its use and age. The sideboard measures 40" wide by 39" tall by 20" deep and it has one long drawer. The height of the backsplash from the table top is 6" There is some finish loss and the top shows some wear but it can easily be restored to its original beauty. Please email for pickup appointment. Another nice feature is the original, but partial, Broyhill Industries label attached to the back. The cabinet has not been cleaned or refinished. VINTAGE DANISH MODERN TEAK MOGENS KOLDS DINING SET CHAIRS TABLE BUFFET SIDEBOARD
Here is a fantastic and complete set of Danish modern which was purchased overseas and came home with the family who has owned it and loved it until now. It was designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen circa 1955 for Mogens Kold. Hovmand-Olsen and Kold shared a relationship which produced some fine pieces of furniture and this ten piece set is a testament to that. Mogens Kold made“utter simplicity. Utterly desirable” This ten piece set consists of the gorgeous and geometric sideboard crafted from solid teak and embraces the elegant proportions of the rectangle complete with recessed handles and iconic rectangular legs and a“floating” design. And then there is the set of six beautifully crafted chairs and each of the side chairs with the one arm chair have gentle curved backrests and the simple tapered legs. The seats are covered with more of a rush ... moreseat which is a serious compliment to the teak and the design of the chairs. The arm chair seat will need to be“re rushed” as it is fraying. One of the side chairs may need a little seat repair also but that is minor. The extending dining table with the two original leaves is a beautiful example of classic Danish Modern. Circa 1959- Superior Construction Mahogany- American Vintage Modern 68" wide. 19" deep and 32" high Superior construction. Exquisite detail and uncompromising form in a Credenza Sideboard assumed produced April 1959. We had an experienced wood worker look at this and he was fairly certain it was Mahogany. We have no firm attribution on this but have noted that Charak made sideboards using identical components that are featured on this. And even similar use of break fronts with lines for Tommi Parzinger. Drexel& Baker made styles like this. We have failed to ID it. The lengths that the maker went to on this sideboard is quite indicative of the best of the era and we have been unable to ascertain the maker. Piano hinges for the middle swing doors. Brass rods to prevent the doors from over-swing. Smoothest movement of the ... moremiddle drawer. Solid shelving and flawless drawer movement. Boasts 8 drawers and a large central area with sliding hidden drawer with extreme construction designed to take very large amounts of weight. All produced from solid wood. Note the use of banded wood on the top that travels around the breakfront. Based on the brass/bronze pulls used we are fairly certain this is the work of either Charak Modern or Baker Furniture however Dunbar and Johnsons furniture both produced similar sideboards with handle pulls that very closely resemble this one. 100% vintage condition with the mildest signs of use.
