I am offering two vintage Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinets in the original Buffet double case with no tears or rips. One is in the key of Bb. The other in A. I am the original owner of both. The serial number on the Bb is#90336. It was made in 1964-66. The A clarinet is#134066. It was made in 1973. Also included is a mouthpiece. Custom made by Bob Mario and a Bonade ligature. I was a serious music student in high school and got my B.M. College Degree in Performance. I played professionally and taught high school and college music. I gave it up about 30 years ago. I've played a little here and there over the years. It's time to pass these wonderful instruments on to someone who can appreciate them. The Bb clarinet was hand selected by my teacher. Kalman Bloch(principal clarinetist with the L.A. Philharmonic for over 40 years) The clarinets ... moreare in excellent condition. The action and tone qualities are as good as ever. Is it a world class instrument? No. But it is way better than the average R13 made today. Now the Bb clarinet. On the other hand, is something truly special. This is a real world class instrument. This is an intermediate level clarinet great for any student looking for a step up horn with a vintage sound. The body has very little scratches and looks clean. And the pieces fit together snugly. The keywork is original and fully functional, the action has been recently adjusted and the horn plays well. The pads seal but are old and will need to be replaced. All parts are original and are in good condition. The bell has a very small, minor interior crack behind the metal ring, it does not go through(please examine photo) The barrel has no cracks or splits. The lower joint has a slight crack in the upper tenon that is supported by the ring so it will not worsen. The upper joint has a chip and a larger ... morecrack in the upper tenon but playability is fine. Comes in an Evette Schaffer hard case with lyre and cork grease, and with a vintage Jean Martin, France mouthpiece that needs a cleaning, with original cap and ligature. It is 9.5" tall and 8.5" wide across the scalloped top edge of the bottom piece. The base is 5" wide. Amazing detail in this pattern. Originally. Fenton made this pattern and sold the molds and rights to L E Smith. The crisper the detail, the more likely it is Fenton. Since this was made before anyone marked their pieces and there is no label, after all these years, I will say Smith. There are 3 flea bytes on the inner pointed edges of the top. There are 12 of those points. Extremely minimal in a glass piece of this age and size. I did try several times to get a picture of at least one. They are so small, that you really need to feel them. Offering a nice Bb Buffet R13 serial number 131947. Clarinet has matching serial numbers. To the best I can determine this clarinet was made in 1972. Some people consider the 1960-1970s era to be Buffet's Golden years. I always played Selmer. So what do I know! This clarinet will need a repad. It does play and has a very nice low section in my opinion. However, hard to get it to sing up high due to leaking pads. I could have it re-padded but that will add another $200+. Probably best for whoevers win bid to have their repairman do the work. This should be a very nice instrument once fixed up. Clarinet does have a couple of issues to describe. These should not effect the playability. However I like to give full descriptions. Years ago I did a lot of woodwind repair in the Richmond, Va. area, so don't hesitate to ask questions. As it does not go through the joint. Barrel: There are 2 barrels. Not sure which one came with the clarinet. Both are Buffet Paris. However the shorter one has a hairline crack the length of Barrel. It appears to have been sealed and is tight when checking for air leak. Mouthpieces: Includes a Selmer HS* and Brilhart Poly Carbonate or plastic of some type( not crystal) Includes case that appears to be original. Vintage Buffet Crampon Paris tenor saxophone mouthpiece hard rubber ebonite SAX
Really neat old(1950s-1960s)l vintage Buffet Crampon Paris tenor saxophone mouthpiece. This mouthpiece is made from very high quality hard rubber. It has oxidized to a dark green color but doesn't give off the sulphur odor more modern hard rubber mouthpieces have. You could polish to a gloss black again but I kind of think it looks cool like this. It has a closed tip opening similar to a Selmer C* This would be a good classical tenor piece or a killer jazz piece if opened up by a mouthpiece expert. Locally these vintage hard rubber Buffets have a strong following with the jazz players. They like to have them opened up by Bob Carpenter and then they rip. I will price this like it's a blank for opening up but it plays really well as is, kind of like a Soloist but a little larger chamber. Exceedingly Rare Vintage 3 Piece Auguste Buffet Silver Bb Metal Clarinet On auction today is a very rare vintage 3 piece Auguste Buffet silver metal Bb metal clarinet. After much searching online we could not find any Auguste Buffets made in this particular way with the metal body and 3 piece construction with the removable bell. I was able to play down to the lowest note but the clarinet hasn't been played for a while. It will need a servicing to play at its very best as is typical with most all vintage horns. We believe with a proper setup this will be a world class player. It has a great name and certain details that set it above the rest when compared to other vintage silver metal clarinets. Note the double wall construction on the center joint and barrel. Also. The barrel may be tunable.I couldn't get it to move and I didn't ... morewant to force it. Charming Old Bleached Wood 1940's Buffet by Harmony House. 55 1/2" long. 19 1/2" wide, 33" tall. Solid wood. Cupboards on each end and big drawers work well. The large top drawer is felt lined and divided for silverware. There is a short shelf inside each cupboard. It has charming applied carving along the front and in back of each drawer pull. Wonderful piece. I like to use these useful pieces in an office with all the drawers and cupboards. The finish is original. Keys have scattered small spots of oxidation on them. Clarinet assembles fine and all joints do seem to be sealing but as pictured. Most of the cork is either worn down or partially missing, so it will be need to replaced or repaired. Pads are still sealing but they have quite a bit of wear to them as well. The bell and horn are still in good shape despite some scratching in the wood. Structurally, there are no major warps or dents and the bell still has a good shape to it. Classic Clarinet from a legendary instrument maker, could make a real nice buy for a vintage instrument collector looking for"project" clarinet! Comes with carrying case pictured.
